Help needed ! Check coolant level warning

All,

I have been getting a warning to check the coolant level every time I turn the car on ...This has been happening since the winter started in earnest and I am suspicious that this warning has to do with the low temperatures ( I am in NYC).
Basically , when I start the car I get the visual warning and I noticed that the coolant temp level goes immeditially to the max temp even though the car is cold and to solve it I have to keep trying to start the car for several times .
Have anyone experienced this issue ? Any clue / suggestions?

Thanks

This happened to me recently, exactly same circumstances. I shut off the car immediately upon seeing that the temperature had spiked when I started the car. I had them tow it to the dealer, where it was for 10 days.

Thanks for the reply ... I tried a few times and it worked fine and I drove afterwards at normal temperatures ... So the coolant level is not the problem really ... It is some sort of electronic glitch .. What was the dealer diagnosis/solution?

Cheers ,

Aloisio

If you know its cold and it immediately indicates it's hot, obviously its an electronic glitch. Good luck!

Temperature light on

I believe there is a Technical Service Bulletin, TS-1008-9752, about this issue. Search the NHTSA site for the TSB (Technical Service Bulletin). http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...sb/results.cfm

I got this last week. I was at a ski resort and had left the car outside on a very cold night. The warning went away after a few minutes of driving.
