Question Regarding Tan Dash and HORRIBLE Glare

Hey all, first post on this forum, not new to cars by any stretch of the means. I personally drive a 2004 Lancer Evolution. I am coming here in reference to my bosses 2010 Panamera. He came to me yesterday and told me about a horrible glare he was getting on the windshield.

After walking outside and sitting in his car. WOW.... it was horrible. Literally hurt my eyes to look at it. He has the 3m glare reducing film on there at the Porsche dealer installed to "Fix the problem" and it seems it only made it worse.

Has anyone had these problems? If so, how did you go about fixing it? He has the tan interior which i am have been made aware seems to be the problem to begin with... Seems like a pretty serious flaw if i may? I will admit, the car is SUPER fun to drive though

Thanks in advance for the help!

I had the same exact problem. Tell him to get Polarized sunglasses. It seems to be the only solution. It cuts the dash glare like 99%

I have Luxor Beige and cream interior and don't have glare problems, I normally wear sun glasses, that may help. I often drive directly towards the sun when commuting to the Jersey shore. Short of tearing out the offending materials, there are leather coating products available that can be used to alter the color.

Don't laugh but were the sunglasses black/dark green lens or dark brown?

Brown works better just because I think it's a closer color to the dash color. Plus in general I've always seen a better polarizer effect on brown lenses vs black.

My interior is Cognac so a bit darker than luxor beige but I really have almost zero glare with sunglasses on. Plus I wouldn't wanna mess up the beautiful interior by putting any product on the dash or on the windshield.

I bought a Black/Cognac PTT a few months ago and after driving it for a day and a half the dealer let me swap it for a black interior turbo due to the glare and the complete "beigeness" of the interior. I was really lucky they let me do it.

I think Porsche should do like Mercedes and Audi and most everyone - dash and sterring wheel always black then colors for seats and carpet.

They started offering that color combo in the Turbo S, black / cream 2-toned, but the headliner is still light colored.

Thanks for the ideas thus far.

Hopefully he comes in today and i can take a look at it.

From what some people have said, tinting ALL the windows should in theory help. But he really doesn't want to tint. Is there any truth to this?

In New Jersey tinting the front windshield is illegal, check your state rules

Windshield No tint is allowed on the windshield. Front Side Windows No tint can be applied legally to this window. Back Side Windows Any darkness can be used. Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

New York
Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 6 inches of the windshield. Front Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in. Back Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in. Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

I have never bought a car with light colored interiors. 2 reasons: dirt is visible really fast, and the abovementioned the other reason. Polarized eyeglasses was a really good suggestion. I dont think there is any other cheap solution. Or then go to a tuning shop and redo the interior or maybe only the dash.

Polarized sun glasses - best fix. But also, adjust to look through the windshield, not at it. In time you wont even notice it.

Yeah, I had the same problem on my 996TT. The best solution is polarized glasses or getting the car fitted with a black dash.
