Sports Design steering wheel with paddles....can I retrofit to existing car?

Is it possible to add the Sports Design wheel with paddles to a car without? Is this a simple steering wheel swap or is there more involved?

It's doable and has been done. Its a steering swap plus programming. And my dealer said programming is a nightmare because you lose the multifunction and instead of it comes a new lever on the right hand side to control the small display. I would strongly suggest u check out the Techart paddles. I had them for a over a year and they're perfect. And I still have the multifunction control on the steering.

Thanks for the reply. That does make sense, and I have heard of the Tech Art Paddles being really nice. I prefer the look of the Sports Design wheel but I guess it might be more hassle than it's worth.

There is no programming involved in the Techart versions. They are so practical. It took about 2-3 hours to install at the dealership. You are right the sportdesign steering looks really nice. But it was too much of a hassle for me, so I went with Techart and no issues so far.

I fascinates me how we all have different tastes; personally, I LOVE the Porsche toggle shifters. Yes, those same one's that most everyone else seems to hate. They just seem perfect; forward to shift up, back to shift down; exactly the same motion as the shift lever. Can shift up or down with either hand. Perfect.

I can see that if you had a previous car with paddle shifters, then you'd be used to those and want to stay with them. But I had always had cars with traditional manual transmissions, and I really like the toggle shifters. Heck, the day I test drove the car I went in expecting to hate them after all the bad reviews, and was shocked to find how awesome they are.

I can't imaging ruining them with the TechArt add-ons.

Heh! I'm just messing with you all now, clearly many of you love these things. I am serious though, I think the toggles rule!
