automatic transmission upshifting

hi guys
i just joined the forum today.just picked up my 2012 base pana.i have a few questions i am hoping that you guys can help with.
in auto mode i can be in 7th gear by the time i am at 35 to 40 mph.also if i am coasting toward a red light the tran might downshift to only 5th gear.what`s going on with this?
also the heated front seats don`t really get hot.
thanks for your help
Al

NOrmal mode is optimized to save fuel. I hope you dont mean the tranny starts in 5th from the lights, because that would be bad and a sign of problems. If you want a reactive gearbox that downshifts more aggressively, drive it in sport mode. You wont see 7th gear.

So you are saying with 3 bars on the heated seats it doesnt warm enough? It is adequate for -20c here, so maybe there is some kind of tuning error in yours, because even 1-2 bars of heat make the seat warmer, so 3 should be enough, unless you are coming from a SAAB.

My shifts happen at around 1500 rpm, like you, but due to me having a 306km/h top speed the gearing is alittle different, mine shifts to 6th at 78kmh and 5th at 66kmh, which would be close to your 40mph, so as the revs match I think its ok. And I think the heating seat temp of Porsche is lower than other marques, well it keeps are fertility in condition
