Internal PCM SIM card slot

For those configuring a new Panamera and want to use the internal SIM card slot on the PCM or take advantage of the external antenna with a SIM card via bluetooth remote SIM Access Profile, please note you need to order Option 669 Telephone module ($930).

This option is not listed separately on the Porsche configurator, so you might assume SIM card slot function is standard on new US models like the bluetooth module - it is not. There is no internal SIM card slot functionality without option 669 as far as I can tell with a new 2013 PGTS (hope I am wrong). Bluetooth hands free profile works fine, with phonebook transfer etc.

Just curious ... is there a separate SIM slot for a SIM card with music files? Or is it the same slot that you are referring to? I understand in most cards, the iPod connection isn't of the best quality because it's converting a digital signal to analog via the iPod cable ... therefore loading files onto a SIM card is the best bet from a sound quality standpoint. Or does the iPod connection in the Panamera offer a full digital connection?

So if you don't order the phone option, you don't get ANY SIM slots?

The PCM slot is strictly for a phone SIM card. There is no media slot for an SD card etc. You get the SIM slot whether or not you order Option 669, it is only active with the option.

There are USB ports in the car, iPod uses one; and the other will accept a thumb drive. With the bluetooth connection, the phone option seems to be overkill.
