GTS or base V6 + used 911S cabriolet?
SubscribeCurrently have 2012 base v6 panamera. Had it for a year now. Nice commuter car for my 10 mile commute. Test drove GTS and thought it sounded great and had a ton more power.
Decision point - do I trade in my current base panamera on new GTS and have one great car (trade will cost approx $45k). Or, do I keep current base panamera and spend approx $75k on a 09 911S cabriolet with manual transmission as a weekend toy? Had 911 convertible before the panamera and miss the 6 spd MT. If the GTS panamera had 6 spd MT the decision would be easy for me.
What would you do and why???
Thanks for any advice.

TGUERINO ... here's what i did ... i went from a 2005 911s and a 2008 Range Rover SC to the 2013 GTS ... i have the same distance commute ... i could not be happier with the move...the power, the technology, THE NOISE and great for a long commute with the wife and 2 of the 3 kids (or no wife and kids)... i miss the range more than i miss the 911 ... the gts easily makes up for the 911, but i agree there are a few times i throw my left foot down to shift ... but u can always have your left on the brake during launch mode!
Absolutely get the GTS. From the comments on this Board, and others, I have yet to encounter a single owner who isn't delighted with their decision. The car is way better than I thought it would be, and I thought it would be outstanding.
If you really miss the manual tranny that much, then get a used boxster. better handling than the 911 and way more fun to drive, and of course, much less $'s.

If you want to deal with two cars and have room for them, then get both! Personally, I'd get the GTS (or higher). I like having one awesome do it all car, that I can keep all my rockclimbing gear in the trunk AND take passengers. But that's just me; it's ultimately your personal preference.
I think a lot of it has to do with how much you would actually drive the 911. Only you would know that.
I sold my GT3 because it just became really rare that I would take the time away from both family and work to go enjoy the car. Plus work and family made it impractical to get to a track more than maybe once or twice a year.
I don't have my GTS yet, but I envision this is the car that I will enjoy with my family ten times as often as I could ever enjoy a 911 (we love roadtrips together!) Every review I've read of the GTS keeps reinforcing that this is 80% of the fun of a 911, perhaps more, but with all of the practicality and comfort of an uber luxury sedan. I'll give up a little feel and performance (maybe very little) to have something we can all enjoy together every single week.
Again, it depends on your work and family schedules, and how much you'll realistically drive one versus the other.
