Mechanical or Electric Air Conditioning

Is the air conditioning on the panamera engine belt driven or electric motor driven? Question comes up reading about the Porsche Car Connect option which lets you cool or heat the car before entering via the mobile app. Only way cooling could work would be via battery driven compressor. Perhaps this is only available on the hybrid.

After reading the blogs, doesnt seem like Im going to get much function out of the Car Connect on my '14 PGTS.

I believe you are correct; it would need to be electronically activated. I had a BMW 550i and that is how this feature worked on that car.
