Your car is ugly!

Every time I read some Panamera-related article on the web, every time, in the comments there are at least half a dozen comments on how ugly the car is. Web comments are of course the dregs of humanity, but it still frustrating feeling all this negativity towards the car.
Journalists aren't any better this regard. http://www.autorivals.net/luxurycars...10rapide-s.jpg Quote:

It's true it's not as visually appealing as the Cayman S. I just don't understand where the vitriol comes from. Attachment 543510 Attachment 543511 |
To my eyes, the roofline and hatch look a bit better with the refresh. But it's not a very attractive exterior design. The interior is very pretty. But I'm not drawn to the lines of the Panamera, at all. And the VW Beetle tail lights are just completely out of place on the car.
The two pics you posted.... from the B pillar forward, the AM is a knockout. The aft half isn't anything special. |
Meh. I like how it looks, so I bought one. If someone doesn't like what the car looks like, they should not buy one. (Buy, lease, rent, whatever.)
I also hear people talk about how the A7/S7/RS7 is so beautiful, "especially compared to that sedan Pooorsh thingy". I don't see it, but they are free to opine. |

My neighbor has a Buick Crossfire. That's a little weird.

Which is which? hilarious https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.6sp...810c988fe8.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.6sp...9b5b1b6014.jpg Porsche managed to design such a beautiful and unique taillight for the 991. And then, when given the opportunity to do something just as nice for the Panamera, this is what they come up with??? . |
Looks are subjective.
But I think the overall perception of the car is it's ugly. And it's why I haven't bought one...I'd take one with a techart kit & some wheels but I couldn't own one stock. As far as comparisons to Aston, are you surprised? Even just slight changes do wonders for cars. Look at the evolution of a lot of car models, slight variations can change the overall look. |
I don't like the looks of the car either. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as it were. Some people I know love it. The back id to bubbled perhaps. Like a Pacer.

I think the Panamera is bulbous in the rear and not that good looking from the rear view. But maybe it's growing on me. I think the side view of the Panamera looks better than the Cayman in the pictures above.
|
As someone who just traded my 981 Cayman S for a 970 Turbo, I am not sure if I should be hurt or not! :) I think the "bulbous" rear of the Panamera is a bit "wonky" BUT it adds a TON of function (which is why I made the switch)
|
Yes, that's why I really don't have a problem with its rear end. Form follows function in this case and that's a good thing.
|
one thing I don't get is that the Cayman S and the Panemera S e Hybrid both supposedly have 10 cubic feet of storage space in the rear, if the seats are up in the Panamera, yet I'd swear the spec in the Panamera is 3.5x as big. Getting two suitcases into the rear of the Cayman is a tight fit, and 3 in the Panamera isn't.
|
I don't care, I don't care what people think or say about the Panamera...besides, it's my money!:) My P4S does it for me every time I get behind the wheel...strangely enough, particularly so when getting into it after weekend driving my C4, and the C4 is a whole lot of fun! To me, the P4S is a fast, powerful, and smooth riding machine. I've driven and owned a lot of executive sports sedans, but nothing yet compares to being seated in the rear of the Panamera. I actually invite people to ride in the rear whenever I want to convince someone about the merits of this car. Of course, having 4-zone climate and rear ventilation and heated seats doesn't hurt my cause! Oh yes, and I like its looks too!
