Upgraded Turbos are in!!

Just received my upgraded turbos back from FVD and all I can say is wow... These things look just amazing - and look brand spanking new (looks like they reworked and upgraded/enhanced the entire unit). FVD-Borgwarner did just an incredible job...No wonder they warrant and stand behind these upgraded units so strongly.

New lighter and larger (20T) compressor definitely looks to be a huge improvement from the oem units. Now to the install to unleash these beasts!!

benblack 10-24-2014 12:39 PM

Sweet have fun

porschecayenne92 10-24-2014 12:51 PM

Is it ready already ? Did you install everything ? I am waiting for the review

Pbread 10-24-2014 12:57 PM

Yup - Freed Performance (Atlanta area Porsche specialist) knocked out the turbo swap in a couple of days...

porschecayenne92 10-24-2014 01:05 PM

So did you testdrive it ?

Pbread 10-24-2014 01:12 PM

Not yet - stuck in traffic on way to pick her up..

Pbread 10-24-2014 05:35 PM

Ok - quick review... Was stuck in traffic most of the way home so was only able to open her up a few times but when I did - it took my breath away... It's just an exhilarating experience driving this car... I mashed on it from a healthy roll in 2nd gear and I was at 90mph in just a few seconds (seemed like about 4 seconds honestly) as she rapidly made her way through 2nd and 3rd gear. Getting 1.2bar from what I can tell so far.

Gonna wake up and take her out for a Saturday am ride so will report back more then but overall just amazing

benblack 10-24-2014 05:37 PM

Nice dude. Told ya

porschecayenne92 10-25-2014 02:59 AM

how is the turbo lag ?

benblack 10-25-2014 08:49 AM

I don't notice a difference I'll have to watch when I drive hard. Wheels spin all the way to 3rd. So traction control backs it down. Need to learn the sweet points in manual shifting to help minimize it. Runs hard especially on the highway. With the meiser exhaust you can hear me that's for sure

I'm not noticing any real difference in turbo lag... Boost is definitely more potent however.

Turbos and tune have been the best bang for your buck upgrades I've done on the PTT

benblack 10-25-2014 03:07 PM

Fact^^^^ and would do it all over again a different beast

porschecayenne92 10-25-2014 03:26 PM

Do you guys feel the added hp in all rpm or at the top ?

Pbread 10-25-2014 04:02 PM

I'm feeling it all throughout the power band when/where boost is applied... There is also a noticeable difference in the very top end rpm power (last few 4-5 hundred rpm) where I used to be able to feel the power taper off before the rev limiter... Stays strong all the way now in those upper rpm ranges. That could be however attributed to the new FVD tune as well vs my old tune

Pbread 10-26-2014 08:47 PM

Was able to get a good shot of her today with a go pro... car was about 10 feet behind the go pro at takeoff...

Pbread 10-26-2014 09:57 PM

one more...

benblack 10-26-2014 10:05 PM

Get it

XLR82XS 10-31-2014 11:33 AM

Excellent.... boom.

porschecayenne92 11-11-2014 05:10 AM

Pbread , did you dyno your car ?

Pbread 11-12-2014 07:07 PM

No, I went with the FVD stage 4 tune vs a custom dyno tune... Assume however it's around iGLambo dyno numbers based upon my conversations with FVD...

We made custom dyno tune at FVD Germany with my old turbochargers which was like yours now and indeed we were at 680-700hp range. Now i am using new turbochargers with new custom tuning file made in the best tuning companies here in My country and i have 55-60 hp more to the wheels now. :)
