First couple of days with 2012 Turbo S

A couple of days ago I bought a 2012 Panny turbo S and traded my 6 cylinder panamera for it.

The first thing that is obviously different is the power. This car is so fast, it can be dangerous. The initially acceleration is felt, but then it climbs in speed so quickly that you don't realize how fast your going until you look down at your speedometer.

I merged into traffic yesterday and hit the gas to accelerate. I thought I was going around 80 mph, but looked down and it was 101. The same thing happened to me today as I passed someone on the interstate, as this beast got over 100 before I knew it.

The acceleration is so quick and smooth, and the car continues to handle very well even at higher speeds. The sport exhaust sounds awesome when you hit the throttle, but not as loud as naturally aspirated engines.

Overall, what a car! Love it!!

Congrats on the new ride. I got a 2012 PTTS in December. Can't believe how fast and agile the car is for the size. My 6 and 4 year old girls nickname for the car is "SuperFast" and they squeal like crazy when we hit an onramp and turn it loose.

I think Panameras in general tend to hide how fast they're going from the driver. While my PSeH isn't as fast as your PTTS's, I routinely find myself going faster than I intended.

Basically, it's a lot quieter and smoother than the sports cars I used to drive. I'm much more aware of my speed in my wife's Cayman S.

Congrats on the upgrade...and yes, these things are deceptively FAST. Waves of torque down low as well, they honestly surprise 90% of the people who have never driven one before !

c-man,

There is one available in virginia that I saw. I found out that these Turbo S's are very rare. There were less than 500 imported into USA since 2010.

I hope you find one. Let me know if I can give you any feedback.

DPM, glad you're enjoying the Turbo S. Like you said, in the ones I have driven, you REALLY have to keep a lazy eye on the speed. I think it might encourage me to use cruise control more often Do you have adaptive cruise control? Might be worth using some times.

Question - Is the ride quiet as the speed climbs? Do you have the sound insulated glass?

I looked at a turbo in Atlanta that had the adaptive cruise control. I loved what it did, but this feature requires a large square cutout of the front lower grille with a large cyclops like camera eye. In my opinion, it really took away from the beauty of the car as I thought it was ugly and was a deal breaker. I think the dealership knew that this feature was very unappealing cosmetically as well.

I do have the sound insulated glass, and although the sound does increase as the RPM's go up, I do not feel it is too loud.
