Porsche Panamera Underbody Lining Question
Porsche Panamera Underbody Lining Question
Hey Guys.
Have a (small area) torned underbody lining on my panamera. There are small holes on my underbody lining probably caused by speed breakers n occasional road bumps.
Strangely Underbody lining is a very soft cardboard box type of material and not like a proper shield like in most cars I've owned. Considering low cars can hit bumps n scrap they should have given some aluminium if not steel shield at the bottom but its a very soft material which can get easily damaged or ripped.
Now question is whether small holes specifically in the front right on the inner side of Jack Mounting will do any damage or create problem as the whole front lining is still intact just ripped at some places. any advice is appreciated.
whole underbody lining for the car is around 600$ for a new one but not sure to change it for just few holes. anyone experienced similar issue?

Most recently, some holes got punched into the panels under the 996 Turbo a few services back and I had these two damaged panels replaced.
Not sure the damage was in any way affecting the car's aerodynamics or whatever, but I like to keep the cars in good condition and keeping the parts that one can't see in good condition is as important (at least to me) as keeping the parts that one can see in good condition.
Probably just me but i have any damaged underbody air dams, guides, or panels replaced whenever I have the car in for service. The tech gives the car a thorough inspection and any panels damaged are noted and then I order the items and have these on hand the next time I bring the car in for service and the tech will replace the panel at no additional labor charge while he's doing the oil/filter service or fitting new tires, etc.

I feel the same.... my advisor (over the phone) told me that underlinings as far as intact are okay and don't need to be replaced just if they r torned as he suggested even a replacement would get ripped and torned when car goes over bumps or when road stones hit the underside so no point changing for cosmetic reasons as functionality wise few holes should not be a problem. No Panel is damaged on my car only the lining (kinda like carpet) is ripped a little. He suggested they would welcome 600$ repair but don't feel its necessary at this point. they have the lining in stock which is a good thing so can be replaced if it gets further damaged.
