Door/speaker grill rattle fixed
 

I'm sure most car enthusiasts are annoyed by the slightest rattles or noises in their vehicles. Since I've owned the Panamera, I've had two annoying issues.

1. At volume, the lower speaker grills rattled/vibrated against the door panels
2. There seemed to be something loose that was rolling around in the passenger front side panel.

So this was the weekend to take apart the door and find a solution to both these issues.

A quick google search yielded the following How to video for taking apart the door panels:
The only thing not explicit in the video is that you have to lift up on the door handle to unhook the door panel from the frame. :)

Problem #2 was an easy fix as there as a loose screw in there just moving around willy nilly. I looked and couldn't find a home for said screw so I simply removed it.

Now to fix the door speaker rattle. I had purchased the following weather seal from Home Depot prior to door "surgery".

Separating the speaker grill from the door panel wasn't all that difficult, simply flip the door panel over and on the inside you will see 4 clips like this:

Simply pinch the clips while pushing or prying the grill out. The clips can be a little tough so if you resort to using pliers be gentle so you don't snap any clips. I just took my time.

Initially I thought I could put the weather seal on the door panel itself like so:

It wasn't going to work well so I opted to put the apply the weather seal to the actual grill itself, which worked fantastically!

The grills went back in perfectly and the slack between the grill/door panel no longer remains.

On a scale of 1-10, this was a 4/5 on a difficulty level simply because you don't want to break any clips. Once I figured out taking apart the door, it can be done in under 5 minutes (seriously!).

I haven't driven the car since but will drive it tomorrow and provide an update.

Thanks man...yes I do most if not all the work on my cars...within reason. ;)

its fairly simple, just time consuming taking the cover off the bottom of the car. once you get that done, there is a metal frame that is bolted to the car, take that off and you will have easy access to the oil filter. For some reason my drain plug was a torx 50. I used 0w-40 mobil 1 full synthetic. insane garage said it takes 9qts. But i filled mine with 9, drove the car around and my oil level was halfway. added another qt and it was perfect.

Interestingly I just completed this and you're right the drain plug is a Torx 50 (T-50). I also found out the previous owner of my car removed the metal frame which made my oil change that much easier.

Note to anyone, the nut for the oil filter cap is a 36mm, but I found that an oil filter strap removal type tool was very effective. I also used a full 10 qts of Mobil 1 Synthetic, and a Mahle filter. I'll be ordering a new drain plug, but tfuhst96 is right...you spend more time removing and reinstalling the panel than the actual oil change. :) Oh and Durametric was fairly straight forward to use as well.
