Wheel size and tires

I have a Panamera 4 on a short list, but was a little disappointed to find out that the 19" wheels don't have an all-season tire option either OEM or after-market. I prefer the 19" wheels, since I'd rather have the ride lean a little more on the soft side. I'd also rather not have the hassle of having to change tires twice a year, and the summer tires are also $2,500 a set, and likely to last only around 2 seasons.

Is it normal for Porsche to release a car with limited tire options - is this just a matter of timing? Also, I have never had summer performance tires - is it true that they will tend to be noisier and rougher than equivalent all-season tires? Assuming there are no other options, would a 20" all season tend to have a more comfortable ride than a 19" summer high performance tire - e.g. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3?

Thanks

I had 19" Goodyear Eagle F1s on the car when I got it and the ride was very comfortable, and quiet (although I do have the noise insulating glass). Great performance.

After several series of Michelins I'm probably going to get the Goodyears again when it's time. I find it hard to imagine 20" all-seasons would be a better ride than they are.

Thanks. How many miles did you get out of a set of the Goodyears? When you decided to get the noise insulating glass did you drive one both with and without it, or did you just order it on spec? I was curious as to whether there was a noticeable difference?

Just ordered the glass without comparing and I'm glad I did, also for the thermal properties. Amazing when you're sitting in stalled traffic and it's virtually silent.

Can't tell you about the Goodyear life since mine didn't live a natural life but it seems about what the Michelins are at the same stage.

yes, summer tires will be harsher and make more noise than equivalent all seasons. They also will not last as long and tend to get noisy as they wear down. I have 19 inch Conti all season and they are smooth and quiet and did very well last winter(even in the snow belt I m in.). 17K and they still look new.
