Advice on 2017/2018 Panamera (Base vs. 4S)

Back again...was looking for a Porsche Panamera late last year but ended up buying a 2016 S550 that was too good a deal to pass up. Love the car in many ways but now am selling it so that I can purchase a new base Panamera or a 4S. The reason I am selling my MB is I need more of a sporty feel when I drive and the S550 just floats over everything like on air. The S550 is very quick but too tame for me. So, does anyone have a new base model and do they miss the extra power they would get from the 4S. Does anyone have the 4S and are they happy with it? I live in Rocklin, Ca so the all-wheel drive isn't necessary but I do want the power and sportiness from the "right" Panamera before I purchase it. BTW, if you know anyone who wants a S550 in excellent condition let me know. It has 20k miles on it and really is 99.9% flawless. Anyway, back to the Panamera...any help would be appreciated as I want to purchase within the next few weeks.

If you want sporty why wouldn't you get the 4s? I don't think there is a significant difference in fuel economy so the only downside is the extra cost.

I own a 2018 4s. If you can afford it, definitely upgrade to the better engine.

Makes sense on a value basis as well. You are paying 15% more(90k --> 103k) for a 30% increase in horsepower and a 20% reduction in 0-60 times.

Going from a 4s to a turbo though doesn't make sense using the same logic as you are now paying 50% more for a much less % increase in power.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will focus on the 4S. Do you happen to know the best way to determine a good deal on one? I visit most of the car sites and see prices all over the place. At the Rocklin dealership they have little inventory hence my question about the difference between the base vs. 4S models. I believe I can get a better deal in the Bay Area which has many more dealerships to work with. Anyway, thanks for your reply. Much appreciated.

I would do the 4S too just for the motor alone.

If you are doing a custom order I think 5% off MSRP would be a good deal. A bit more if you are buying an existing car off the lot.
