Aluminium Bolts in 4.8L broken engine?!

Hi All,

I'm about to purchase a Panamera 4S 2011/Cayenne S 4.8L in Hong Kong (drives on the right hand side). There have been no recalls related to the Aluminium bolts broken in the camshaft.

I just heard about this and worried about this issue. Any input is appreciated

I have a few questions that I hope you fellow Panamera owners can help me answer that could lead me to a purchase:
1. I will get an inspection done, if the bolts are aluminium should I be staying away from this car? Or should I get it replaced with steel right away and make the purchase?
2. There seems to be no recalls related to this, shouldn't Porsche fix this for free, if not what are the costs to fix it so the engine doesn't blow up?
3. Is this a concern at all or am I over-worried?
4. Any other important info to share, it can help a lot of potential/current Panamera/Cayenne owners

the cam sprocket aluminum bolts have to be replaced or you will be replacing the engine when they fail.

An indy that knows about this situation quoted me around 1320USD for labour, and around 80$ for each screws, totalling of 4 screws. He says if any screws are broken during the process of fixing, the camshaft adjuster will need to be replaced, 4 camshafts, costing 400-550 each. He know that there will need to be timing done and such

Does this fix sound about right? He's a lot cheaper than the Porsche Centre. Fixing a 2011 Cayenne 4.8 engine will be just as reliable as a 2012 4.8 engine right? (2012 don't have the problems with aluminium he said)

Cam bolt recall should be covered by the dealer

https://www.cars.com/articles/2010-2...1420695735007/

I had mine done by dealer last month or so.

I am doing a search on the official porsche website for recalls and its not covered for my vin - which is a EU right hand side vin.
I have checked the UK government site for recalls listed and nothing there either.

It seems to be restricted to north american for this recall
