Another successful retrofit, using the GPS adapter. This time on friend's 2016 Panamera, with heated steering wheel.

Again, service from the GPS guys was exemplary.

That’s a really nice wheel. Looks like it blends well with everything else, great job!

Very nice. And i bet if you gave the interior a good clean up it would match the steering wheel

True that. It a friend's car. My was never that dirty - in fact, my 2011 Cayenne looks better than his 2016 Panamera, inside and out

Here is the steering wheel swap I performed on my Cayenne.

Depends how much you pay for your steering wheel. Then add the cost of the GPS adapter ($349) and deduct what you can get for your old steering wheel selling it on ebay ($500 or so).

Swapping the wheel is a 15 min job, but factor in ~30 min extra to install the GSP adapter inside the wheel.

Is there a video or any instructions of how to install the adapter and change the wheel? Does the new wheel come with the airbag? where do we buy the adapter?
This is a really good mod to go for, looks better and add functionality (paddle shifters)

Installing the adapter is very easy to anyone who knows how to use a screwdriver and allen keys. You can get it from the German Performance Service:

https://gpsadapter.us/

I have used the manual from the GPS site to install mine:

https://gpsadapter.us/blogs/installation-guide

The adaper comes via DHL from HK. I got mine in 4 days or so. The guys from GPS are very helpful and responsive. On the DIY difficoulty scale from 1 to 10, I would rate this project as 3. I do not work on my car myself, but was able to do it on my car the first time without any problems.

The steering wheels are sold separately to airbags, but you can often get a combo for less. I got mine from ebay (brand new) for ~ $1000. The heated version that my friend bought was more expensive, at ~$1300. You have to buy the airbag as well, as the new style airbag is different in shape to the one you have.

The only special tools you need are:

1/2-Inch T-55 Torx Bit Socket
1/2-inch Drive Socket 3-inch Extension
1/2-Inch Drive Socket Torque Wrench
Loctite Blue thread locker

All $80 or so from Amazon.

Ebay, forum classified section or a dealer (www.suncoastparts.com for example).
