Hey guys. I went to change my oil not too long ago and I noticed a pretty decent amount of oil all around the bottom part of the alternator. I noticed specifically a bolt was pooling with a bit oil and snugged it up just a bit. I cleaned the lower section of the engine / alternator and drove for the past couple of months. Sure enough, checking back and I still see a decent amount of oil here.
I don't understand where it's coming from as it seems like a strange place to be leaking oil; an alternator bolt??? I'm wondering if it's not really this bolt and maybe a place above that is collecting here. Any ideas? I looked from the top of the engine and I don't see any evidence of oil although it is really hard to see down below (might need to go get a mirror).
Here's a pic of my oil soaked alternator. Also, engine oil consumption is normal so I don't think it's anything of a huge concern now but I'd prefer for my car to not be leaking oil ...especially on the alternator
