Honest Review on FVD Brombacher Stainless Steel Braided Brake Lines on PCCB
My OCD-ness overtook me while waiting and watching the guys remove the front wheels off of my 970TT with PCCB's and I couldnt help but to see if it would be possible to make these awesome brakes even better... In my quest to do so, being all about the details, I finally settled on the FVD Brombacher Braided stainless steel brake lines and coupling it with my all time favorite and best performing brake fluid Ive ever used, I wanted to share with you my ridiculously awesome experience and to share the info with you all so that you can enjoy the same.... I was due for a brake pad replacement and thought, this would be the most opportune time as well as efficiency to do the brake lines and fluids all at the same time... With a thorough rotor cleaning as well. The brake lines offered by FVD is as closest as you can get to perfection.... The quality of the stainless steel, the crimping, and attention to detail in labeling and with an EXACT OEM fitment, couldnt have made the install any easier. What is unique about these lines specifically is for the fact that they use an outer sleeve which helps dramatically with keep the lines nicely looped and never able to kink. This in itself is a HUGE design feature that surpasses the OEM coiled components... And the business aspect of the braided lines, because it does not expand like their OE rubber counterparts, you gain incredible initial BITE and precise pedal response like no other.... Although FVD only recommends using OE fluids, I can SAFELY say that the Endless Fluid is not only far superior to all other brake fluids for PCCB's, but its chemical make up is safe to use on these lines without any hesitation. The fluid is very thin and does not create any issues with the ABS unit whatsoever, in fact, the way the fluid is, it takes a bit more to set the ABS off and that is a HUGE advantage if you are pushing your PCCB's on track. You will never ever get pedal fade with this combination and I can fully attest to this on multiple Porsche Gt2RS, gt3's, and at least 10 panameras. Very simple to install as you only need an 11mm wrench, some Vacuum hose caps that can fit over the fitting to prevent brake fluid from running when you are replacing the line, and thats really it. Yves!!! I drive the crap out of the car, haha. However, 2 things that make everything staying fresh and clean are... 1) Meguiars Concentrated Degreaser Spray + McCulloch Handheld steamer 2)Ceramic coating anything that could be exposed to the environment. E.g.- fender well, brake dust shield, calipers - this step right here is the key part... Since it's anti-static properties, dust, tar, grime just dont stick to the surface well at all, so everything stays fresh and clean. This is not documented anywhere and straight up something Ive been testing out myself on all of the cars with great success.
Mike, particularly in your case since you ACTUALLY run the **** out of your car and wanna stay super clean, it'll be the CarPro line of products... And I didnt choose this brand because they have more readily available videos on it on youtube, but with the fact that Ive tried it up against many other brands and nothing comes close to ease of use, efficiency, durability, and performance... In the caliper, dust shield, hub assembly arm, and wheels, I'll do two coats of the C.Quartz Wheels and Plastics coating as it is finer and can take heat a bit more... helps BIG time with road dust accumulation. If you have PCCB's and you havent done a thorough rotor and caliper cleaning, then i HIGHLY suggest you do so.... You will notice HUGE improvements with braking distance, low speed squeeking, and helps the rotors dispell heat much more efficiently. You'd be surprised at how much brake pad dust material has been caked on in the internal ventilation part of the disc as well as the actual drilled holes... I'll load up some pics for that later.... Also, use IronX to remove any of the oxidation on the dust shield as well as under the caliper... there will be a huge blackstripe going right down the middle of the caliper... use IronX on the caliper here for effortless, clean and safe way to keep the calipers perfect....just dont spray the ironX onto the PCCB rotor itself... You can clean the rotors and Pads with Acetone as well... I have a Brembo Factory manual to attach to this .. ill find it and load it up here....
107k miles with over 75-80 rotor life left.....Yeah, you know what? Im really surprised more people dont know about this, but it completely takes away brake fade.. I know for a fact that the factory Porsche Race cars all come with the Endless brake fluid as a standard and kind of an industry hidden secret(but not really). Its what you have always thought brake fluid was supposed to be like, haha. Once you have it in your lines, its worry free for a solid year (with HARD and plentiful amounts of racing) and longer... Its the Bee's Knees
