971 Panamera 2 base - is it possible to add front differential and make it AWD?
car: Panamera 971 2018 base 3.0T RWD
What is the difference between Panamera 2 and 4 in terms of the front drive components? Would it be possible to snap in the front differential, the bearings and the axels to Panny 2 to make it a Panny 4 AWD? From what I've seen on my car, all the mount holes exist. I just wonder if something would have to be coded so the car knows it's now AWD. I don't see any electronics on the differential itself so maye it would just work assuming the gearbox doesn't have to be reprogrammed somehow.
Any ideas?

The front diff and both axels cost around $2000. I’m 99% sure that no other parts are needed except maybe some coding that I can do myself with piwis3. I should be able to install everything on my driveway.
I assumed that the gearbox is the same in 2 and 4 models. I doubt they would design two different gearboxes.
so to me, it looks like this would be less work than selling my car and buying 4 especially because I like DIYing.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but my point stands...anything is possible and doable and if you've already done the research and know it's just the axles and front diff, go for it and report back. Someone has to blaze the trail and this modification might be yours to do so with. Looking forward to your update/write up.
You would need to change the fronts hubs and add a drive shaft to the diff. Sould be a fun
project. I recall there is a guy in Europe who was looking into the same thing but he has a V8 with a manual. There were only about 100 of those models built, and only in Europe.

Salvage yard might be your best option if you go forward. There is an old thread where a Porsche GT3 was professionally converted to a manual but it took quite a while and lots of $$$.
I used to swap powertrains but that was before the cars were run by computers. You will become the expert.
