911 996 turbo front differential

My Indy rebuilt the front differential,,,, didn’t work, says the problem is with the backlash between the pinion and the ring gear,,,, both are Porsche proprietary parts???? 8k for a new Porsche front differential,,, your thoughts,,, Thx

I thought there were shims to set the proper backlash…am I out in the woods here?
