sounds like a straight line he-who-has-the-highest-hp-wins type of event.

 

This is a 1/4 mile event but we are looking into renting a private runway for high speed runs for future events.

Hi everyone, I'm the organizer of last Saturday's Famoso Raceway private track rental. I had a blast meeting everyone there especially Art.... His car was just unbelievably impressive in every aspect and it was by all means the Quickest/Fastest car at the event. Thanks again Art for joining us and I look forward to seeing you at each of our events....

First, here was the final list:




After I came back home after the event was done, I sat down and looked back and all I could say was WOW !!!! What a great day for racing, which became even a greater day for meeting all those different car enthusiasts. We had a great number of people and cars at the track and it became just a great turnout.

Here is a summary of the best times from the event..... these numbers are from memory until I get the actual time slips from the owners

• Nissan GTR ran 11.33 @ 125 mph
• Porsche 996 Turbo ran 10.89 @ 133 mph
• Fastest CLK63 BS ran 11.04 @ 129.8 mph
• Fastest E55 ran 11.24 @ 124 mph
• Fastest SL55 ran 11.27 @ 124 mph
• Jeep SRT8 ran 11.12 @ 125 mph
• Challenger ran 11.4 @ 120 mph
• BMW 135 ran 11.80s @ 119 mph
• Crossfire SRT6 ran 11.89 @ 118 mph
• M5s ran 12.0 to 12.2 @ 121 mph
• M3 ran 12.20 @ 113 to 114 mph
• My 100% stock E63 went 12.22 @ 115.4 mph

The weather did not cooperate much as it reached a high of 72 F with a density altitude close to +1900 ft. This means that most of the above numbers actually correct down by at least 0.2 seconds and trap speed up by 1.2 mph. However, everybody seemed to have a great time and many definitely broke their personal records....

Forgot to mention that one of the funniest races that took place was between Rick (CLS63) and the Challenger (I think piloted by Bryce)..... On one of their races, they happen to take off the line at almost EXACTLY the same time, then as they accelerated down the track, somehow they accelerated together at EXACTLY the same rate, so basically they were going side by side the entire time. They both kept looking at each other while both stomping the gas pedal as hard as they could with each trying to gain a lead on the other, but it almost seemed that neither of them was moving (perspective from inside their cars)..... Anyways, they kept on trying to beat each other by accelerating harder and faster even after the 1/4 mile mark was passed yet they were still flooring it ...... and even then, they kept going faster and faster, as each of them wanted to beat the other even more badly at that point, but soon there was no more road left to run on...... so then both cars had to brake abruptly at the end and we see brake lights and dust all over

On their following race, I remember the guy at the staging lanes telling them "you guys DO KNOW that this is only a 1/4 mile race, not a 1/2 mile race.... right?" And they both knotted while smiling... yeah....
