Sorry... I've been away for a while and I guess I missed one of the update emails so 6SO stopped emailing me replies to the thread. I have sent off a query to the manufacturer to ask what's going on. I thought this was a done deal so I relaxed a bit... I'm back on it pushing hard...

You are in at 242.

The manufacturer emailed back that he is still working on the contract. He didn't specifically answer my query about the sponsorship, but we'll find another way around that one if we have to.

They are making up a contract for the purchase of 250 units at $600 each for our members. They will then want a deposit to start the "real" work of development and production. Getting queasy yet? I'm not - I'm expecting everyone who committed to come forward and complete their purchase.

Hi Slider,

welcome back! For a moment there I'd thought we lost you.

Yup am looking forward to the deal going ahead and completing my purchase.

Apart from my own ONE unit for the 997 design I had placed a while back, I have another friend who also would like one, so please amend my order to TWO units for the 997 design?

Thanks!

Cheers,
Alphamale1977

gents...the group buy was permitted to proceed because I was assured by Slider that he had a sponsor that was going to come on board...from his recent posts this is clearly not the case...

"The manufacturer emailed back that he is still working on the contract. He didn't specifically answer my query about the sponsorship, but we'll find another way around that one if we have to."

this troubles me very much since I permitted this to continue over the objections of Internet Brands....when Slider has his 6speed sponsor this thread will be reopened and the group buy can proceed...until then it is closed once again...damn!

I would like to make it clear that having a sponsor is necessary not to generate some meager funds to IB but to protect the members that are taking part in the group buy...at this point we have no sponsor and no way to ensure that members will have the same rights and assurances they have when dealing with a vendor of this forum...we need to know there will be a viable business that members can go to for replacement of defective lights, that will provide some sort of warranty of the product and that will make sure that those that have paid will receive the product...Ordinarily we have some recource if a vendor behaves badly...at this point those are issues that are unresolved. We will continue to try and find a way to make this group buy work.
