EuroPipe Stage 1 Install - Technik 1 NYC

So finally had the EP1 Installed. Few observations over the first day (and its been snowing in NYC - so my driving has not been as exciting as I would have liked)

1) Stef @ EP is amazing. The customer service is second to none. Constant communication and all questions thoughtfully answered. (oh...and some beer from Belgium showed up!)

2) Had the install done by Gus @ Technik 1 in NYC. Gus and his crew are great - they came recommended to me by the board, and he is a sponsor. Again - communication was great - and the work - after one day of driving - is outstanding. No rattles, looks great (aligned and stuff like that), OEM exhaust was packed and stowed away for me in the back seats - just great.
His crew explained all the work and took the time to make me feel right at home in their shop. I'll be going back to Technik for most of my additional 'toys'.
As an aside, the Technik crew fixed my escort concealed install (no sound). A dealer had tried on two occasions (the dealer that did the install) to fix it - the Technik guys found the problem and fixed it after installing the exhaust - was just a cable to the speaker that needed adjusting. Top notch.

3) Sound is what I expected. The cold start videos I have seen are accurate - a bit throatier than the OEM, but in a good way - and no - will not impact neighbors or anything like that. Sounds rocking.
On the road its a touch more pronounced in the cabin - but again - in a good way - no drone and just a very nice sound of power. Perfect.
Push a bit and you turn heads - sounds like the monster it was meant to be. I could not open her up all the way yet - and will post video when I have some better quality - but like many before me - the radio has been off since the install! Oh - and when I pulled up to the house, the wife and kids did not notice much of a difference at all...until I revved her up a bit! Then the heads turned.

4) No CEL as of now.

Video to follow in a few days. But again - shout out to EP and Technik.

Congrats!! Forget worrying about CEL from the exhaust - won't happen. Also, how did they get the OEM exhaust in the back seat - tight fit?

Great - thanks for that! (kept stock tips btw - just love that look vs. quads)

OK - so I show up to FEDEX to pick up the EP1 - had it shipped to me - but...I had my 911! - so realizing the giant box won't fit, I took the EP out. Put cardboard on the rear drivers side seat and the rear passenger foot-well. The cats rested there and moved the seats back to keep the EP1 in place (vertical). Easy!

They guys at Technik put the OEM exhaust in the rear easier - it fit right along the back (horizontal) - with rear seats down - and the front seats pushed back enough to hold it in place - bunch of foam all over the place for protection . Their set up was much better than mine. Got it home, about 2min later it was in the garage hopefully never to see my car again. Not for sale currently, but maybe at some point.

Sadly - left that nice big box from Stef at Fedex - the beer, however, came with me.

I've been thinking hard about the EP1 or EP2...trying to see if I can find a used one.

I know about Technik 1. Question is, how much did they charge you for the exhaust install?

Very reasonable. In line with indy install in NYC. I'm a salesguy and prefer when my customers keep prices confidential. Although I was not asked to, I'm going to leave it at that. I'm fairly certain if you contact Gus, he will quote you without delay.

Glad to hear that you have this installed - it is a great exhaust. I don't recall if you have a tune yet, but that would be the next logical step and wow, what a difference. Two other 997.1 turbo owners in my area are proceeding based on the sound (same exhaust as yours) and the quickness with the tune.

No tune yet - but based on the board - Softronic is next. I still have some warranty left though - so going to let that run out before I flash the ECU. But yes...that is on the docket for 2014 - 2015! Figure one nice mod per year - keep her fresh and new!

With both front seats tilted forward, the box will fit on the back seats.

EP1 and Softronic on my 997.1. = Great combo. Love the sound and the improved throttle response. Mild to wild would be a good description of this set up.
