I like the stance. Looks like you lowered with aftermarket springs?

I have OEM standard springs and PASM. I would not lower my car given New England roads overall quality unless I have a button with height adjustment options while driving.
Tires are quite different between winter and summer rubber and my driving style also. What I can tell is that I have an impression of relatively less stress going over potholes with 18" than 19". I moved from 17" to 19" on my GTI and the difference is more perceivable under dynamic driving conditions: higher precision and responsiveness, less comfort.

Makes sense, you think if you had sport tires on the 18s instead of snow that you would loose much precision

True, 19s are more prevalent, though 18s ride better and are what come stock on Base cars. I have 18s and am contemplating 19s, though getting the wheels I want and new tires is big spend and I have brand new fronts and relatively new rears..

I don't think it looks dated, just not as aggressive or sporty. Too much rubber. IMO 18"s make great snow tire setup but doesn't look as good. 19"s is truly the way to go.

IMHO 997 looks great and perform best with 19" wheels. 20" is okay, which what i drive on now but ehh...they're there why not use them. Definitely looks different for sure...rice out a little

Would never put 18" on my 997.

Here is a pic of 18s this past winter. The ride is definitely different as you feel a bit less of the road and every grain of sand that you drive over.
