Front license plate

NY state requires 2 license plates to be mounted, but I didn't want to drill holes into front bumper. Looked for available options online and the only one is a kit that screws into tow hook and priced about $250 and up. After brainstorming for few moments came up with alternative. Total cost under $29.
Got front plate bracket from auto zone. Tied it to middle bumper grille with 2 wireties. Screwed plate into place. Feels very solid. And doesn't look bad and don't affect any cooling. Just make sure u put something to protect bottom part of the bumper, where bottom of the plate will be rubbing. I just applied 3 layers of thick "gorilla tape".

European license plates fit nicely on the front, whereas the more awkward USA plates look yuk on the car. i never put one on and only got stopped once about it. Now moved to a State where we don't need front plates, so problem solved

I've been driving Corvettes and Bentleys for 15 years in states that require a front plate but I have never installed one. I've expected to have been stopped by the police many, many years ago but nothing has happened.

I've always figured if I got stopped I'd just get a "fix it" notice which I might need to comply with or possibly just ignore.

That sounds reasonable if you don't drive in the "CITY". In NYC area most likely to get a ticket while parked on the street. Parking enforcement hunts for everything... Including no front plate. And it won't be "fix it". It'll be $115 with no way to contest. I'm pretty satisfied with the way I have it mounted. Cause would be a shame to drill holes into bumper.

....here in California both front and rear plates are the law. The first parking ticket will get you an extra $130 no plate citation...Here in San Francisco the meter maids look specifically for no plate...Why play games when it is required...JimB
