The AMG was slower off the line and never closed the gap. Wow!

Race was stupid. Of course a C4S is going to jump out in front initially but that was a terrible launch by the AMG. Video description does not indicate if the Mercedes was the "S" model or not but the wheels suggest it was. If so, it should have begun to reel that Porsche in, probably drawing even over that distance. Pointless video...

It's called a drag race... that's the point.

Would like to see a replay from a roll. None the less, surprised the amg couldn't close the gap. I was a passenger in one and it felt fast as @@@@

So the point is to have a terrible and very unrepresentative showing by one car so fans of the other car can ooh and ahh over how well "their" car did? This video shows a single run between two cars that is not indicative of their expected performance. It is pointless.

I'll be sure to mention all that to the next guy that drag races me at a stoplight. Maybe it will change the outcome...

Actually, the 991 S is slightly faster than the AMG GT S from zero to sixty. The 991 gets there in 3.1 seconds, while the GT S is a bit slower at 3.4 seconds. Yo Mr. White, science!

Firstly, you are cherry picking times for both cars to give the clear advantage to the Porsche. 3.1s is on the fast end of the scale that magazine tests have produced. notoriously, Motor Trend got this time but their methodology of using a 5-foot rollout always produces wicked fast times. Porsche's official figure for the car is 4.0s I believe. Mercedes quotes a time of 3.7s for the AMG GT S. I will not argue that the four driven wheels and rear weight bias make the 911 a breeze to launch but, properly driven, the Merc will not get embarrased in a short sprint.

Second, 0-60 has no bearing on this video, as it shows a standing mile race. Any advantage the Porsche would gain right out of the blocks would be clawed back over the rest of the race. Anyone who thinks their Carrera S is going to go around beating up on an AMG GT S has a surprise in store, this video notwithstanding.

Cool. This argument is now more pointless than the race in question. You win.
