So I got bored today and decided to remove my rear seat since it will never be used and adds dead weight (and sound insulation, which I found out later on. A little more drivetrain noise isn't a bad thing). I'd like to cover up the holes left by the various seat mounting points but $550 for a few clips and covers seems a bit absurd: http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/99XRBHW.html
Has anyone either come up with an alternative or are there less expensive options out there? If not I'll just live with it!
That kit for $550 is crazy. Didn't even know it existed. Looks like about $20 worth of parts. Surprised that someone like Rennline doesn't offer something attractive out of aluminum for a reasonable price - maybe I'll give them a new product idea...
I sent a message to Dan at Rennline today with photos. I suggested he make a version for those that want to keep their seatbelts and a version for seatbelt delete, which would fill the seatbelt mounting holes with something smooth. Also suggested he offer them in black anodized and brushed aluminum.
We'll see what he comes back with. I sent him these and a few more of the upper belt slot and buckle and belt attachment points.
Those side attachment points are what bother me the most. I removed them but the open hole allows for more noise in the cabin. Not a terrible thing, but would be nice to fill the space and reduce the additional sound. I'm sure it's a placebo but the 40lbs weight savings seem to make the car feel a bit more sprightly. Could just be the extra noise ;-)
Did you check prices with Sunset Porsche per my post #7? The assembled kit was in the $500 range. Separate parts were well below that. This was a ways back, of course.

That's what I tried to do. They must have jumped in price since then.
Silver Caps are now $166/ea (996-522-982-00)
Black plastic caps $72/ea (996-522-981-00)
The center black piece is $7 (996-522-980-01)
Nearly $500 no matter how you look at it unfortunately.
To cover up the holes on the side quarter panels, I bought some Cayenne tow hitch plugs and cut off the back. The front face of the plug fits nicely over the hole in the panel. Some double stick tape of velcro holds it in place. PN is
