Tried Redpants grill reduction mod, thoughts?
Tried Redpants grill reduction mod, thoughts?
I've always loved the Vantage shape but I've never been a fan of the busy front grill on these cars. I followed Redpants' lead and removed half of the slats and think it looks a lot cleaner now. Would still prefer the more modern grill and will do that at some point. But for now this seems pretty tidy.
Most of my friends are against it
I kinda dig it though. What do you think?

Dare to be different
Like it a lot. Redpant's 4 bladed version motivated me to follow. I am 3/4 complete. I have filled the now extra Vs in the 7 verticals, just need a squirt of black Plasticoat to finish.
Considered going with bright blades, like you, and still could since Plasticoat can be removed with some effort. Also considered a coat of bright argent on the filled verticals to create a large open honeycomb.
To me:
-Lots of blades=luxury
-Fewer blades=sport/performance
-Wire mesh=race car

PlastiDip $20 and it is removable

I think it looks pretty cool! Makes it look more sporty in my opinion.
I appreciate the shout-out but I can't take credit for coming up with the 4-bar idea, someone on PH did it and that's where I saw it. I first did it to mine because Vince sent me a black 8-bar grill to replace my busted one. He had plasti-dipped it, and I thought the black was overpowering with so many slats. Pulling out four of the eight slats makes it a lot more aggressive while also evening out the looks.
I hadn't considered it on a shiny-finish grill, but I think it looks great. Gives a blend of luxury and sporty styling vs a shiny 8-bar grill (luxury styling) or black 4-bar grill (aggressive styling).
