Time to upgrade my 2006 to 2011 - Advice on 2011 faults
Hi Guys
Having enjoyed my 2006 Mulliner for almost 2 years now and the price of the newer shape finally coming into my price range iv sent mine to my indy for a service and mot and will be putting it up for sale as I begin my search for a 2011 replacement.
I have found one already which has high mileage at 60,000 its also had 4 previous owners but it doesnt really bother me as the car looks in good condition.
Its a Mulliner spec with heated and cooled seats, reverse camera, massage seats. Im not sure if it has Naim or is that standard spec on the mk2 ?
As my outgoing model had many common faults, how does the mk2 stand on faults or issues any big jobs like the vacuum leak?
....just to be clear...are you talking about getting a 2011 gt with milliner package...i have 2010 gt speed with milliner pkg, 2 door...one careful mature owner with 20,000 miles...the car you are looking at with 60,000 and 4 owners...i would stay away like plague...any bentley will look good...its what you can't see that will be very expensive...jim b
I'm not up to date in prices of newer cars. If you were to upgrade from 06 to 2011, why not consider a 2012+ model? You get new interior and new exterior and some mechanical update (lighter overall weight and some other improvements).
Hi guys just to be clear the 2011 is the mk2 new shape that im looking at, Maybe the model upgrade was released earlier here in the UK than other countrys?
Here is some photos of the car im looking at: - Iv not seen it in the flesh yet will be viewing and driving on Saturday so hoping to be find out as much as I can about these models before i view it as they seem entirely different from my mk1 2006 model.
Why not have a word with our man Ivor re; possible issues. I'm sure he would impart his knowledge.
Car looks good and Silver doesn't show up the muck as much as Black.
Nice interior too.
....It is unusual for a recent model car to have 4 prior owners...that is off putting...unless you can review service records from day one and if it was me I would be talking to prior owners...for frame of reference...here are some examples of prices current here in San Francisco at Bentley Dealership.
2014 FlySpr 37,000Mi $97000 2013 GTC 6000Mi $119,000 2012 GTC 107000Mi $94000
2012 GT 27000Mi $108,000 2008 GT 47000Mi $57,000
Thanks for the advice jim, I will be looking at the service records and i also want to see if the mileage is constant through the years or whether 1 or 2 owners have done double average. Not sure if its right to compare prices between UK and US but at the current exchange rate it would be $68,000
There is obviously a difference in car ownership between the UK and the USA.
It's very common for fairly new cars to have a number of owners. Maybe us Brits are more willing to change cars more often.
It's the condition and service regime that is important.
For example, I saw a 2004 multi owner GT for sale this week that had just 12,000 miles on it from new.
Also, a lot of UK cars these days are on short term lease from new. The Footballers regularly change cars each year too and we have lots of them!
...SF...thank you for information on different ownership habits...what is short term lease...here...3 year lease is standard and not heard of less...I have never leased anything...always heard they are easy to get in but you get hosed getting out...Car dealers are like horse thieves...your' always going to get it in the end...JimB
I just had a very quick look and the first Bentley to come up was a Flying Spur on as little as a 6 month short term lease at £3,723 per month.
I didn't check what deposit was required but there are definitely folk here who are into that short an ownership.
