pwdrhound how were you able to get your 996 cams to spin the 997 vacuum pump, I thought the 997 cam had a special oil passage for the pump which 996 cam doesn't have.

I'm planning to try an electric vacuum pump, the hella UP32. This is bigger than the 28/30 version and commonly used for electric vehicles. The Porsche Cayenne uses the 28

Im looking at how I can set a vacuum range to control the pump. A simple solution will be an inline set of sensors that turn the pump on and off. But im also running a motec dash where I can use a number of inputs include outside air densisity, rpm, brake pressure etc to decide when to activate or not.

I've looked at electric pumps as an alternative as well when the first 997TT vacuum pump assembly I received was broken... be interesting to see how this goes for you... Still need to figure out something on those turbos we talked about before too haha. You going to be at the track any time soon?

No idea. It's was a simple straight bolt on. My friend that built my engine came up with the idea of installing it after we kept having issues with the stock vacuum set up at the track. The vacuum pump assembly piggybacks onto the cam driven oil pump which I assume internally is the same on both the 6&7. As they say, works good, lasts a long time....
