That first picture looks amazing, really loving the black border and center area tint. Anyone find out if those are aftermarket lights or just tinting with the outline cut out? I'd love to see that on my car

Like this? I know mines a .1 but Del Rey carries the same for a .2. No tint, new LED lights.

Your car looks great, and if those are Dectanes, you're lucky to have them. Dectane no longer makes the smoked tails (like ours), or the crystal (clear), for the 997.1 cars - haven't for over a year. Just the red with clear centers and the red dark tinted.

Those look good, but really going for this look on the 997.2, amazing! They look like aftermarket LEDs but maybe i can just tint the center clear area and a black border around the outside

Just make a template with some tracing paper placed on the taillight, transfer the pattern to smoked tint film, cut it out and apply it. One pattern will work for both sides if placed on the film for one side and on the release paper for the other side.

That is going to reduce the illumination behind the car when backing up though.

It doesn't seem that anyone realizes this but those two cars have the exact same tint. The rear tails are illuminated in the first pic making them seem brighter. And the first picture has saturation turned way up making any color pop. Look at the red signs at the top of the pic. They are way over saturated.

Ive had lamin x 'tint' on my rears for a few ears and it looks awesome. Much more subtle than the 'smoke' shade.

Had to bring this back to life, did anybody figure out how to achieve this look? It looks so perfectly aggressive IMO. I contacted Lamin-X and they said it's not their's. Thanks!

put lamin X ‘tint’ on your tails, turn the lights on, take a pic, and oversaturate it in photo editing software.

Actually no, you don’t have to settle with tint which will look cheap no matter who makes it.
I’m probably the first to do this but I cut the tail lights open. Stripped the chrome, painted it black, and put it back together.

@FrankB911 that looks amazing. Any pics of the reverse lit up? Did you bake it to seal it back? Thanks!

Dennis,

I’ll get some pics for you later today. The reverse section was left untouched so it is still chrome and I also installed LEDs on there.

No, tail lights are plastic welded together so once you cut open you have to get creative in sealing it back together.

Here are some photos with them now installed and with reverse lights on, turn signals on, and just parking lights on.
