Just make a template with some tracing paper placed on the taillight, transfer the pattern to smoked tint film, cut it out and apply it. One pattern will work for both sides if placed on the film for one side and on the release paper for the other side.
That is going to reduce the illumination behind the car when backing up though.

ditto that , i did similar to a customers set,you just have to heat up the tail lights first .bake them to lose up the silicone and slowly pry them open .just reverse the process and done.

I'm eager to do this myself. At what temperature do you heat up the taillights and for how long?!
