So my wife got a new Mini Cooper and when she unlocks it a logo is displayed from the driver's mirror to the ground by the door.
I found an aftermarket kit and since it was only about $20 I figured what the heck. The lights are fairly bright and am now thinking of getting some more to shine the logo on other things.
As far as the car goes I'm thinking of ordering spare lower light covers from AMbits and fitting these so I can always return to stock.
My wife already nixed having one shine on the roof in the bedroom.

I've wanted to do this for a while. I'd probably do it as a projection under the rear of the car, powered by a toggle switch, for car shows (so people stop calling it any of: Austin Healey, Bentley, Mercedes, Porsche, Genesis... yes, I've gotten every single one of these).

I look forward to the installed pics.

After I parked at the golf course last week a guy I was walking by said "nice Genesis!". [he was driving a Genesis, sedan] I saw him after I paid and told him I apologized to my car for the bad man that called her a Hyundai

The best was an old man walking by it, looking back, 3 times. I said "not sure I like the way you're looking at my girlfriend!" and he said "what is that, a new Chrysler?"

I said, "yes, absolutely!"

My favorite was the Austin Healey reference. The guy literally bent down to read the badge and said "oh, it's an Austin Healey."

If you ever wonder how our country got to this point, now you know.

Projector

My Mustang projected a Mustang Horse every time I opened the door - the camera was built into the side mirrors - an undocumented very nice touch

I especially like the huge drill bit accessory. Ouch! Is the idea to install it on the bottom of the door?

That's how I've seen them installed. But I've also seen other implementations:

I was thinking the same thing.. Wow!

Yes.. The idea is to pop a hole in the bottom of the door and install there. My 2014 Range Rover has these as well as original equipment.. Displays Land Rover logo.. However I believe the projector is in the bottom of the mirror housings on the door.. Maybe I'm wrong.

Not generally installed in the mirror housings. They're usually installed on the bottom of the door and tap into the lights that are there (so they illuminate automatically when the door is opened).

My wife's mini has it mounted in the mirror. Popped a puddle light out and it looks like it will be pretty easy to gut the stock one and just insert the LED projector. Waiting till I get my spares from AM Bits before I drill anything.
You've got me thinking though. When I ordered my parts to install my remote exhaust switch I ordered two. I could tap into the same circuit in the boot and have a remote control logo projector in the back somewhere.

Never said they couldn't be installed elsewhere. But if you google "car logo projector" and look at the image results, the vast majority of installs are on the bottom of the door.

Oh no.. I understand. Please don't take it wrong. I was surprised to see they're mounted in the mirror as well.. I apologize if my comment came across wrong.
