I wanted to create a remote controlled bypass to route exhaust around the silencer in my DBS. It was important to me that I used as much of the cars original equipment for controlling the valves as possible.
The original "stock" silencer of course came equipped with a pair of vacuum controlled bypass valves but my Tubi aftermarket silencer wasn't equipped with this so I first had to create this. I sourced some vacuum controlled valves online and then figured out a location on the silencer to fit the valves and bypass pipes. See pictures.
The other pictures shows a yellow arrow indicating the valve and bypass pipe I fit and the green arrow indicates the flow of the exhaust gas to help show you how it all works.
I found a company called "cccharger.Co.uk" They created a very simple kit that enables the exhaust valves to be open and closed using a remote control. Clive helped me modify his kit to operate a bit differently to allow me to open and close my valves at any RPM.
I made a quick video today showing the exhaust in both open and closed position. About halfway through the video you'll hear the tone change when I pushed the button on the remote to open the valves.. Again using the cars original compressor. I think it sounds terrific and gives me the best of both worlds.
Sounds great. Silly question but I've wondered what it would sound like if you opened the muffler and gutted the innards and then sealed it back up.
I think it would sound a lot like my video with the valves open (silencer bypass mode).
I should have mentioned that my car is equipped with Velocity secondary cat bypass pipes also which obviously gives the car a lot more aggressive noise. After trying the Xpipe and H-pipe I like the straight cat delete pipes the best.
