Development is complete on our prototype DB11 downpipes. We will also be launching a delete version soon. We also have developed some definition files for the software, and there are HUGE gains to be unlocked. This twin turbo V12 is very detuned at present, presumably to allow for 8-10 years of further HP addition.
The DB11 represents the long-awaited update of the Aston Martin V12 drivetrain platform. With the V12 being very smooth and turbo cars notoriously quiet, the OEM exhaust system on the DB11 is already straight piped when valves are open.
The answer for increasing the sound level is downpipes. Our 200 Cell Units replace the 600 cell primary and 400 cell secondary catalysts, with a single 200 Cell Ultra High temperature 5"/125mm brick. The same one we use in our McLaren applications.

Stewart if the new DB 11 is using a AMG twin turbo engine will replacing the cats on my E63 show the benefit that you are showing for the DB11?
The new Vantage will have the AMG derived 4.0L Turbo Engine, but the DB11 is a re-engineered version of the 6.0L V12 Aston Engine, taken down to 5.3L and lowered compression.
Regardless, your E63 would no doubt breath a little better with some sport cats!

Gene, on my 07,08 E63's (6.3 motor) a tune and installing straight pipes instead of the resonator really woke the car up. Sound was great but no drone and quiet on HWY.
I am guessing yours in the Turbo motor--- in that case a tune works wondress HP I think.
Yes it is a twin turbo 5.5 liter motor. It has an early RENNtech tune. It has 701 hp and 839 tq. It is crazy fast now. Enough so that when my son drove it he busted out laughing and said "so this is what an extra 200 hp feels like." He drives a twin turbo Porsche. But after seeing what the 200 cel cats did for my Vantage I thought it might be good for the e63 estate wagon.

Yep, thought 700 was the magic number for the tunes on those.
I would bet, resonator delete (check MB WORLD forum) would help you out better and cheaper. Not sure at that HP there is much more to be gained with minimal changes. I am sure with the cats there would need to be a Tune adjustment where resonator maybe not.
I should most probably just leave it alone. It is already stupid fast. It drives very docile and you would never know it has that power until you jump on it. It is a great car for a long road trip.

I suspect in time all the chassis will have both options.

Just knocking up some downpipes for another DB11 V12. Should make this V12 sing.
Drop us a line if you've got one and you want to crank it up to 11!

^^ Nice work. For a turbo'd engine, that sounds pretty good, inside and out!
Thanks! Well clear of 700BHP as well.
Looking to get an XPipe exhaust into there too, think it will sound even cooler.
