996 Turbo Slave Cylinder Low pressure Quick Disconnect Line
Hi all,
I'm in the middle of replacing the slave cylinder on my 03 996 Turbo. Unfortunately I cannot figure out how to disconnect the low pressure quick disconnect line.
I have the scissor fuel line tool (3/8" and 5/16") but cannot figure it out. I'm sure its much more simple than I'm making it, but its tricky for me.
I've included a picture from the DIY on RMS european. http://www.rmeuropean.com/porsche-99...placement.aspx
Keep even pressure on the red collar and pull the line as straight as possible. Just removed mine on Saturday. I used a 10mm wrench. Worked better than my disconnect kit. Dont have to deal with the scissor action.

Hi Adam, thanks for the tip.
So Just to clarify I push down on the red collar with the 10mm wrench (push down towards the Slave cylinder), and simultaneously pull straight out on the line.

Exactly. They can be a bear. I actually ruined the coating on my power steering return line by not pulling straight. That was a $125 mistake

Jeez, I have a bad feeling I did the same thing with the scissor tool (given that I was pulling it out wrong). My plan was to just coat the scrapped coating area in JB weld..well this was the outside of the power steering return line. I assume you ruined the coating on the portion of the line that actually goes inside of the slave cylinder?

I would replace it. It will most likely leak with JB weld. Im sure a bunch of people who have done the GT2 slave mod would sell you that line cheap. Its no longer need with GT2 slave. I may sell mine, havent decided yet.
The easiest thing way I found to do it was to cut the metal band that holds the line to the connector and then worry about getting the fitting out after the slave cylinder is on the bench. So much easier when it is out of the car. When done replace metaL band with a new hose clamp.

wish I would’ve done that. Ended up destroying the fitting trying to get it out. Oh well, plan now is to basically do what you said but with a new fitting.
For anyone that is planning on doing the slave cylinder, on the RMS tutorial, they tell you to use a regular 14mm flare nut wrench to remove the high pressure line. I found it much easier to remove it with a crowfoot flare nut wrench. Also, it was a 13mm not a 14mm.
