Oil catch cans...they work!!
Oh come on, the guys on PH are way more vicious lol. It took me a long time to work up the nerve to become a regular over there
It's my fault this thread got out of hand. I was trying to nip something in the bud and it ended up being more of a mini-rant when only I intended for it to be an explanation. I was in no way trying to take away from Danno's project. It's awesome to see guys doing projects like this on their own.
I think the black-and-white toneless text is making the comments above seem more aggressive than they're meant to be. I didn't read any of it as harsh or rude (aside from my own hijacking of the thread, which again, I apologize for doing).

Out of hand? This is the most civil place I've been on the internet. Then again I'm usually hanging around guitar players
I still don't understand why if Stage 1 is good, but really only a partial fix then why isn't a there Stage 5? was it? setup that covers in, out, up and down

This much oil in catch cans really demonstrate the limitations of the factory AOS system. I think the next challenge is to have the catch can oil returned to the engine instead of manually emptying it.
Most of that 250ml is suspect came from 600km of VERY spirited driving last weekend. Other than that most of the miles are motorway cruising at the moment with a weekly run to a project about 140km away.
could you not just run a gravity fed line to the oil reservoir with a non return valve on it
then it would automatically empty itself

It is clear that Rich’s catch can is a great addition. I see Graze had 250 ml in his catch can after 6 months. For me, however, maybe because I am one of those drivers who does not drive aggressively, I do not use any measurable amount of oil between changes every 3000 miles. Would a catch can do me any good?

unlikely that you "need" it although you are slowly feeding oil vapour back into the manifold even with careful motoring
but your engine will definitely be better without it & given that you dont give it a blast every so often (AKA Italian tune up) it will stop the oil vapour condensing in the inlet manifold & choking things up - however slowly it happens

Hi Graze...I mean a pump to empty instead of taking the unit off to empty...
I would not want to reuse the blowby oil as who knows what is in it...
When I first got my car I drove it nice but added the oil catch can as my son swears by them on his cars.
They was still oil in the can...As I have gotten more ....mmm...higher speed often...the can is an addition every Aston should include on our type models.
While I use Rich's can...I know others have done their own modifications....either way...I am a believer!

Sorry Aldv I misunderstood
got it now though
its only 15 minutes to empty it - not such a huge inconvenience
and any time spent with an Aston is quality time - just checked my rotor thicknesses - ready for change over next weekend

My son and I changed front rotors and brakes all around two weeks ago...
I used Aston Rotors but changed to Brembo Sport brakes...I was thinking to use Hawk but decided to try these...not enough miles on yet as weather stinks here in NJ...
Safe driving...Duke
Sorry to hijack, I was looking at these Brembo pads, presumably the HP2000. Please provide feedback as soon as you have had opportunity to evaluate.
Why not? If the factory AOS was doing its job, that's where the oil would be going and you wouldn't be any wiser.
