I'm working on building a cover for the "black hole" - the open cubby between the seats of my 08 V8 Vantage roadster. Photo 1 shows a picture of the black hole, photo 2 is a digital pic of what I want to build. Got it all figured out except for one item - cannot find the leather to wrap it. My interior is Sandstorm (color code 20M). I've tried Bridge of Weir in Scotland (8 hides minimum @ US $500 ea), a couple of AM restoration places in the US (1 hide minimum @ $600 ea), and eBay both US and UK for used interior pieces that i can harvest the leather from. For eBay, I need the VIN from the donor car to ensure that the leather color is Sandstorm since picture quality and a variety of tan interiors confuses the issue. Been to regional restorer and they have something very close, but it just looks wrong up against the Sandstorm interior.
Only need about 1' x 2' to do this. That gives me enough to screw up once and still complete!
Anyone know of a parts car with Sandstorm interior? I don't think the donor car has to be a Vantage since Sandstorm appears to be used across a number of models from around 2005 - 2010 or so, maybe later. Anybody have a swatch of Sandstorm leather they'd like to part with? Anybody know anybody who has a parts car or a swatch of Sandstorm? I'm running low on ideas.

Thanks!
Go to Redpants... Rich has some factory color leather. I got some Phantom Grey from him a couple of years ago... He may have some sandstorm
I also have this color in the car, but it is very difficult to care for it. I left the car for the winter in the garage and drove away when the seats came back moldy in some places. The first thing I did to get rid of mold and mildew was to take an old T-shirt and rub it. After making sure that I removed all excess mold on a rag, I took lemon juice, dissolved it with water and a damp sponge smeared the skin on the front and back, I found these tips here https://leather-toolkits.com/blog/how-to-clean-mold-from-leather/ . Since the leather seats in the car are a pity to throw away, I followed these tips and the seats look great. I hope my experience is useful to someone .

Well, I finally did it. First, I created an eBay "watchlist" search of: "aston martin" (tan, beige, sandstorm) (glovebox,"glove box")
since after measuring the opening it was clear that any AM glovebox cover would have enough leather and would probably provide good underlying structure to retool into a cubby cover. Every so often I'd get a result, go to eBay, check it out. If it looked more or less like sandstorm, and if the ad had a VIN, I'd check out the VIN # to see what color interior the car had. Finally, last month I hit paydirt! A 2007 DB9 glove box cover in sandstorm. Bought it.
In the meantime I had found a chrome hanger (like the ones on the panels behind the seats on a V8 Vantage and bought it.
Carefully removed the sandstorm leather front and the black leather rear. I then used a jigsaw with plastic cutting blade to cut the sides off and saved them. The top side was perfect for the cubby cover. Then marked the dimensions of the cubby minus the width of the plastic sides and minus about 1/8" for the leather thickness. Cut out the cubby shape. Glued the sides back on and test fit. Needed some sanding as it was too tight. Finally got the geometry correct. Carefully glued the sandstorm leather on the front. Did not do an excellent job on corners but they're serviceable. Cut the black leather that was on the back of the glove box cover and glued to the back of the cubby cover. Installed the chrome hanger. A lot of hand work but it looks nice IMHO. Turns out the DB9 glove box was the perfect starting point.
Wow, that's a very attractive modification! Seamlessly and smoothly covers the "black hole"; congratulations! Thanks for providing the photos and the description of the materials and how you did the modification. I need to learn how to save threads like this because I might want to do this modification later.
