FS: 1998 BMW M3 - Black/Black - CT

I have been looking at cars for some time now, and believe to have secured my new vehicle. If all goes as planned, I will be flying out to pick it up middle of next week. Therefore, I am hoping to sell the M3 quickly. Ideally right before I leave or very shortly after getting home.

I am going to try to give the most accurate description I can, because I hate 'surprises' that conveniently pop up when trying to find a good used car. Therefore, I will list the good, bad and otherwise.

Some specs:
1998 BMW M3
Black/Black
5 speed manual
~120k miles

History:
I have owned this car for about 2.5 years. I purchased it in October 2006 with ~86k miles on the car. Since then, it has been my DD. The previous owner cared for the car well, and also used it as a DD for some time. He sold it because he needed to start using his truck for work everyday and didn't use the car anymore.

The car has a clean title, and I ran an Autocheck Vehicle History Report yesterday (they had them for free) and it came back perfect.

I will include 9 wheels.
- 5 stock staggered DSIIs. 4 have Kuhmo SPT (summer) tires mounted with good tread. 1 is the spare, no tire.
*One of the rears is being replaced with a brand new tire this weekend. I had a heavily loaded trunk of groceries, etc and hit a pothole coming out of a parking lot at ~5mph. Sidewall punctured (I think it hit something sharp on the side). Obviously wasn't repairable
- 4 16" winter wheels (sport edition from tirerack) with Bridgestone Blizzaks mounted, again good tread left.

As for modifications, here is what I can think of:
Conforti CAI + Heat Shield.
H&R Full Coilovers.
Euro Clear Corners.
Euro Tail Lights.
SS Brake and Clutch Lines.
E46 Style Chrome Grill.
Gas Slotted Rotors
SS Brake and Clutch lines
UUC Evo3 SSK + DSSR.
Powerflex RTABs.
Treehouse LCABs.
20% Tint.
UUC Stage II Flywheel + M5 Clutch Setup.
CDV Delete.
UUC Black TMEs.
DDM Euro Ellipsoid Headlights and glass fogs.
55w 6k lumen HIDs with Angel Eyes (AE's wired but not currently plugged in)
There is wiring in for sub/amp/etc hookup from the PO. I never use this so cannot comment much farther on it.

Notice the majority of mods are maintenance style. I opted to upgrade with better parts over OEM most times, and went for a more sporty feel over the factory feel, which I felt was slightly numb.

Factory Options:
HK 10 Speaker Sound System
Power Vaders (Sport Seats) - Full Leather
Heated Seats
6 CD Changer
Rear Spoiler
Maybe more, but that's what I have off the top of my head

Major maintence:
Entire Cooling System Replaced
Aftermarket suspension w/ bushings (rtab, lcab) recently replaced
Clutch replaced
Engine is Strong - Compression was done last summer and was perfect
Fluids are all recent - Oil change due w/in 1k

Known Problems (From biggest to smallest)
Heater Core Slowly Leaking - Still works, but slowly leaks coolant. Had it checked recently to make sure it wasnt a problem w the head gasket, and thankfully it was just this. I did not have time to leave the car that day. I top up coolant maybe every two months with less than 1/2 litre.

The two mounted DSII wheels on the passenger side each have a small dent. I recently had the tires balanced and alignment done and the shop pointed it out to me (good shop in the area). It looks like it's from hitting a bad pot hole at highway speed, which happened once when someone almost ran me off the road by cutting right across lanes w/o looking. The unmounted spare can replace the front. It causes no safety issue (as per tire shop). My plan was to get new wheels anyway, but I never did and this happened at the end of the last summer season. They can be repaired, or probably you could mount the front onto the spare and pick up a DSII from the forum for cheaper than repair costs.

OBC works, but screen is pixelated. It was like this when I purchased it. I can still read what it says. Never really bothered me since it doesn't light up very often.

Driver side heated seat is iffy. It has been since purchase. It has worked at times, but more times than not it doesn't. I haven't tried in the last year b/c I stopped caring. Passenger side works perfectly.

Normal wear and tear. Much better than expected for 120k mile car, but there is some wear. No cracks in any seats. They have light wear, and steering wheel does as well. I replaced the shift **** b/c it was badly warn when I purchased it.

Coilover's need greasing. I haven't been under the car doing anythere recently to get to this, but it seems to be common in coilovers in general. When turning at low speeds, they make a bit of noise. Apparently they just need grease reapplied. It does not effect handling.

Missing 1 wheel center cap and the roundel off another. Somewhere in my recent moves I lost them. I just remounted the summer wheels, so just noticed. I havent ordered new ones yet.

Rear Left Caliper is painted dark red. My old one froze and rather than wait for a rebuild, my shop offered me a low mile one in place. It works perfectly, and is hard to see behind the DSII's, but it was sprayed red.

Sounds like a lot, but they're really all very minor. Like I said, I want to tell everything I know, so that's why I wrote out the small stuff too.

I have some records scattered about, but unfortunately moved about 3 times since owning the car. I will dig around to see what I can find. Most of my maintenance was done by Eddie at Project MSpec in Queens. He's on the board and lots of you probably know those guys. Feel free to ask them about my car.

There is 1 rock chip on the front driver side that took a drip of paint off. The pictures show it well. It was like it when I got the car, and I decided against trying to paint it. It hasn't gotten worse since purchase.

My driving habits are much tamer than most. I love the power the car has and the handling and potential, but I've never pushed it anywhere near it's limits. I think that is best left for the track, and I have never tracked or autocrossed the car. I've never overreved the engine. No misshifts. I've never abused the car at all, but I have allowed it to bring a big grin to my face at times bc of how well it performs on normal roads.

I do still owe a small amount on the car. I have opted NOT to pay this off yet b/c I wanted to use the extra cash toward my new car. It will be simple to pay off, and I am willing to work with the buyer on how they'd prefer money exchanged regarding the loan.

Also, inspection recently ran up. It is a NY car, but I am in CT, so I haven't been able to get home to get it done yet. It will have no problem passing, and if the buyer wants proof or is from NY, I will pay to have that done. I believe if you're out of state you'd have to get it redone anyway. I may end up doing it this Friday either way depending on how my schedule turns out.

Attached are some recent pics after a very quick wash. I had to beat the rain, which thankfully I did.

Please note, interior pic is old (pre-tint). I have to get new interior pics, but do not have them online yet. I can provide them in a day or two depending on weather here.

Price:
$10.5k OBO

Like I mentioned, assuming my car purchase does not fall through for some unforseen reason, I would like to have this car sold no later than the end of next week. I cannot really let go of the car before next Mon or Tues, but that can be discussed.

First person with a reasonable offer (and the money) gets it. Only serious inqueries please. Feel free to PM me with anything specific and I can give you an email or phone number to reach me

If anyone is local and interested, I should be around Tomorrow (Fri) and Saturday in CT, and I will be on Long Island Sunday. I'd rather this car go to someone who will love and appreciate it than just to someone random on ebay or the likes. I fly out for the new car next wed or thurs, and would love to have this sold or ready to sell by then.

Feel free to PM me any questions or to ask for an email/phone number. I tried to list every little thing I could think of. Let me know if you want more specific pics as well.

No interest? First reasonable offer takes it. Have one guy coming to look at it today too. This is an opportunity to get a very nice car for a very good price

It's up there right now with an almost identical post as here. Ive gotten some good interest and people wanting to come back for second looks, but still no one with money yet. It'll just be easier to sell before getting the new car on Thurs so I dont have to double up insurance and such until it sells

for sure... lowball offers, and super high asking prices... but this is the way of the internet, things work out in the end.

Got my new car and need to sell this one. Would love to sell it by this weekend!

Just replaced the camshaft position sensor bc it was acting up and the car runs even better. Gave a fresh oil change as well!
