1997 Porsche Carrera Cabriolet, 99,800 miles. Black over Cashmere with supple leather seats. 1997 model (VarioRam) with factory Motor Sound Package. Carfax shows it to be a California registered car most of its life, with me (5th owner) bringing it to the east coast in 2012.

I purchased the car at around 95,000 miles, sight unseen. Once it arrived, we discovered immediately that it had a knock at 2000rpm. After stethoscope diagnostics, it was determined that the cam lobes were worn on the intake cams, and so all cams were replaced with RS profile cams. In addition, the hydraulic actuated rocker arms were replaced with solid rockers for a noticeable increase in performance. Other mechanical changes include:

• Lightweight flywheel
• Short shift kit

All mechanical work was completed by GT Performance, Inc., of Maryland, a very reputable independent Porsche shop who started in the US racing 993s in IMSA World Challenge.

The car also received a very thorough interior/exterior refurbishment in 2012:

• Exterior finish compounded/corrected/polished/sealed
• Old stone guards replaced with OEM new
• 18" Technology Design (Turbo look) wheels refinished in OEM silver
• New OEM Porsche colored wheel caps
• Brake calipers refinished in factory black with OEM white decals
• 90% of dings/dents repaired by paintless dent repair specialists
• Front bumper "skid plate" vented panels replaced left/right
• Interior carpet steam-cleaned with seats removed
• Replaced cracked plastic sill plate (driver's side) with new
• Replaced cracked speaker grille on driver's side
• Replaced Porsche hood crest with OEM new
• Seat leathers cleaned and treated
• New OEM floor mats
• Steering wheel and shift **** & boot leather replaced/recovered

Exterior flaws: there are still 2 small dings on the car, one by the gas filler flap on the drivers fender, and 1 small (barely noticeable) on the passenger door. There is minor sandblasting effect on the rocker panels and front bumper. All wear is commensurate with a 16 year old car.

The car shows very well, is reliable, quick and fun. Very good driver-level condition. I have a folder of receipts from previous owners, as well as my own. PCA member seller, with many years prior 911 experience. I recently took delivery of a 2013 C4S, and have too many cars and not enough garage space.
