Shift does not buy or sell cars; all cars listed through Shift are still owned by the seller. Shift simply does the legwork to help the seller sell their car. We appraise the value of the car, arrange for pickup and a 200-point mechanical inspection, professionally photograph the car, list the vehicle (on Shift's site and a variety of listing platforms), coordinate test drives with potential buyers, and store the vehicles in a secured storage facility.

Local? (California)
If you see a car you are interested in, please comment on the thread, PM, or email us directly, and we will coordinate from that point on. We can provide you with more information on the vehicle and if you’d like to move forward, we can discuss payment options such as financing, cashier’s check, or wire transfer, as well as arrange shipping. If you are in the state of California, we also take care of all DMV processes such as transferring the vehicle’s ownership to you (no need to go to the DMV!).

Out-of-State Buyers
For out-of-state buyers, the process is the same as California buyers but we will not be able to take care of the DMV process for you. We will file the Release of Liability (ROL) on behalf of the seller and then overnight the title to you after we receive payment for the vehicle.
