Wheel opinions GT silver cab

Hey Guys,

Just picked up a 997.1 Carrera S Cab after selling my Grey coupe,

thinking of changing the wheels, currently is on 19' sport design thinking of changing to the 19 Carrera sports or the Fuchs style sport classic or Ruger classic,

Anyone have any pics of these?

The wheels you have were on my wife's car when we bought it and one of the first things we changed - went to a 997 GT3 which we really like. The Sport Designs with all those spokes are a nightmare to clean and just look too spindly IMO.

i can't help you with the 2 you're asking about, but I also prefer a wheel that doesn't match the color of the car, but also really don't like black wheels, which on GT Silver cars like ours pose a challenge. I've decided that a polished wheel looks best, but if you don't like that look, maybe a smokey anthracite grey, which would be darker than the paint, but not black.

Here are some pics of what I've had on my GT Silver car
chromed RUF - nice design, but way too heavy
Champion RS171 polished & clear powdercoated
ADV1 ADV05

and the GT3 wheels on my wife's pink pearl car.

Hyper Silver on GT Silver looks great. Not a fan of chrome, although I like your RUF wheels.

Thanks. I only have the Champion's left - sold the RUF's and adv1's. If I could find a set of polished RUF's, I'd probably go back to those since the rest of the car has RUF mods.

For 10-spokes I've never been a fan other than HRE. The OEM are rather bland IMO

0 for 2 on those IMO. Think you need to keep looking.

A mesh style wheel (BBS, HRE, etc) is a pretty safe choice on a 997. The 997 GT3, 997 Carrera S IIs, and 997 Carrera IIIs are some of my favorite OEM options - you can check those out at www.wheelenhancement.com, but I still think you need something other than the normal silver to create some contrast.

There's a fairly new wheel company named Varro Wheels that has a couple styles I like. http://varrowheels.com/wheel/wheel-collection.aspx and lots of pics on their facebook page (link doesn't work, but you can google it)

I'm putting their VD02 on my widebody Cayenne, but don't think that style is right for a 997. The VD01 or VD03 would look good though. VD01 comes in a matte graphite or a silver but with a polished face, which is a cool look, and I think would look good on a GT Silver 997.

So would a set of Race Tech Forged - http://racetechforged.com/gallery

One of my all time favorites on a 997 - P40SC's in Brushed Clear:

I've got a photo gallery on this forum for 997 Turbos (I know you don't have a Turbo but the gallery should still help a bit) with HRE Wheels on if you'd like to browse through here - https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...997-turbo.html

Haven't seen em on a 997 cab. They look cool on the 996 parked in google images.

I'll poke around.

Sport Designs look good but are a nightmare to clean. Your Carrera Sports are an improvement and look very nice. The Carrera Classic 5 spoke to me is the best looking wheel on a 997. That and the fuchs style Sport Classic. With a black top, the Sport Classic is a winner!
