Update 9/17/17:
Car was involved in an accident in December of 2015.
Front drivers corner. No airbag deployment. No frame damage. The drivers side fender panel was replaced. Car was driven away from the scene of the accident.
Car runs straight and true. No issues. Added pics of current driver's front to show how good the repair is.
See below for prior owners explanation and description of the accident.
If anyone is interested I have copies of the accident report, carfax, and autocheck. The carfax should be taken with a grain of salt in their report. It also says 4 owners when there have only been 3.
Accident report lists the damage as moderate
Update: 9/17/17
I bought this car back in December of 2016 with a cracked block due to a broken rod. Once I finally received the car in New Mexico I had a local shop swap the short block for me. I had purchased a used STI short block with 27k miles on it for the transplant. I was finally able to get the car on the road and registered Feb/March 2017. Since then I had been collecting parts in order to increase the power and fun quotient. About a month ago I had all the parts and had them placed on the car. My tuner turned up the boost to 18 and fine tuned everything. A few days later I spun a bearing on my way to a meeting. Since I've had the car it's never been launched, raced, autocrossed. I currently lack the entry, time and money to do another short block swap.

Now the bad news. The car recently spun a bearing and needs a new short-block. The block is intact with no leaks. It does start but sounds like someone put marbles in a can. I've thought about keeping and repairing it but I currently don't have the resources to do it. So if you have a spare short block or mechanical skill this is a great opportunity to pick up an awesome car.
Update:
This car was in an accident. Collision the driver's front corner with the driver's side fender and hood replaced.
No frame damage
No air bag deployment
Recent alignment. I have all of my cars aligned once a year.

What do you think the cost of completely fixing it to a good running condition?
I currently have an 09 WRX hatch FBOs as one of my daily and loving it.

It's a great car and whole lot of fun. Not to mention that every time you stop somewhere someone wants to talk about it.
The cost of replacing the engine is pretty variable. If you have some mechanical aptitude you could buy a short block from Subaru for $2000 and do the work yourself. Black Friday and Christmas you can find 20% off sales from some of the dealerships. If you want to start turning up the horsepower I'd get a block with forged internals. Those usually start around $2500 and go up from there.
But im guessing you're like me and don't have the time or space to do it. Then you are looking at $5k and up. Labor rate in my area is about 90-110/ hr. I'm told it's a 20 hour job.
I was using stock motor from a 2011 STI. My tuner thought it was putting out ~ 300 hp to the wheels. I never made it to the dyno for accurate numbers.

It's a trap!
That wasn't worth it... glad I asked if it was a clean title... then checked. Maybe not a complete waste.
Don't waste your time or money folks, unless you want a previously severely damaged vehicle where damage has to be found via carfax.

I'm not hiding anything here. I've been forthcoming with VIN numbers and pictures as requested. I guess I assumed, wrongly, is that anyone who was doing a carfax would see it for themselves, when it came up, we'd have a discussion about it.
But instead the poster above, rather than asking me any details, ran here, blindsided me, and started saying it was almost totaled. That is not the case.
Yes, the car was in an accident. It happened to the previous owner that I bought it from. I'm told (I wasn't there) that it was the drivers front. They had to replace the driver's side fender and hood. That is why it was declared major damage. Because of the body panel replacement. I've asked him to come on and explain what happened.
No frame damage. No air bags deployed - still has the recall airbags from Takata. Drives straight. I recently had the alignment done and asked if the shop saw anything while they were doing the alignment. They said no. Replaced a tie-rod and off I went.
The only thing that is wrong, with the body, is a small rock chip on the hood. It's right at the junction of the hood and the headlight driver's side. Besides needing a wax there are no issues. I have paint matched color sticks for any needed minor imperfection repairs.
If anyone has any questions please ask. I'm sure I overlooked something. But rather than blindside me lets have a discussion and I can update the post as needed.
Thanks,
Jason

I am the previous owner and the one who did all the swap work to it, as well as the one who had the accident happen to them. This car is immaculate, and I spent a TON of time, money, and energy making sure it stayed that way. I have owned the car since 2012 and it only had 34K miles on it when I bought it.
Here is what was done in the accident...
Happened in 2015...Driver exited Hardee's driveway, didn't see me, and merged into the front driver's side. Speed was less than 10mph, and the only damage was front driver's side fender and the hood on the very front driver's most corner. The fender was replaced and the hood was repaired. Because it had a panel replaced, it is automatically listed as severe damage. That is the only reason.
For the guy saying it isn't a clear title, you need to re-learn what "clear title" means. That means there aren't any salvage, rebuilt, liens, etc on the car. It has nothing to do with accidents or issues.
For anyone saying this is a deal breaker, you should think about what happens if you tell insurance that the car has a non-matching motor, transmission, rear diff, wiring harness, gauge cluster, ECU, etc...everyone wants a custom car but nobody wants the truth that comes with them.
Anyone with questions feel free to message me at 850-830-8541.

I honestly wasn't thinking about it because of the minor nature of the incident/accident. I didn't pull a carfax before posting and it got away from me.
So if I told you that there was a minor accident on the car but when you pulled the carfax it said major damage would my credibility be any better?
Like I said I'm not hiding anything. I don't buy and sell a lot of cars online so I guess it's a hard learning experience for me. But to be put on blast for disclosure oversight that is easily picked up on a VIN search it seems a little overboard. The guy never asked me about the accident and just came here shouting about how the car is junk.
I would encourage anyone to do a VIN search before buying my car or anyone elses.

Jayson5, we expect full disclosure on any item offered for sale here. You were only forthcoming about the accident when you were "blindsided" as you put it...that member was just protecting the membership by providing info you decided not to...your behavior in this thread gives you two strikes...please do not make a mistake like this again.
