2017 Continental Trunk Lid not opening all the way!

Fellow Bentleains,

I’m new to this forum coming from the BMW, Maserati family, so excuse my ignorance.

The trunk lid of my 2017 Continental convertible doesn’t open all the way up with the press of the remote. I have to use my hand to raise it. Is that normal? Should it raise all the way? The issue actually started at the dealership during delivery last week, but didn’t think anything of it until now.

Any idea what might be causing this? User error probably? I don’t have an owners manual, yet. Help!

Gas struts on their way out? It's common for the trunk lid to stop a couple/few inches short of full open when the gas struts are losing their pressure.

I agree on the gas struts. The good news is you can buy them online and replace them in minutes.

Much appreciated hq_, taking it to dealer next week for that and a multi point inspection to ensure the CPO is valid.

Colleagues,

As many you have surmised, it was the the gas strut. Parts are being ordered from the UK and should arrive in 10 business days, thanks to CPO. By the way, the massage units are also being replaced because of intermittent functionality.
