2006 EVO RS RoadRace/Track set up FS
2006 EVO RS RoadRace/Track set up FS
that's right, Eric is selling his EVO RS
...after less than a year of ownership (he bought it Jan 1st 2006 in Phoenix AZ)
Since that time he has invested the following into the car:
SSR GT2 wheels with brand new never used Nitto NT01 roadrace tires in 18x8.5"
ALCON 6 piston front calipers with custom 2 piece slotted floating rotors
Stainless steel lines
Forge Radiator (biggest you can stuff in there)
Moton custom coilover suspension (with the remote canisters of course)
Upgraded rear sway bar, rear upper strut brace (forgot the cost on this)
5 point Simpson harnesses with stock seats customized to work with 5 point belts and black powdercoated belt bar
custom retuned after Bushner manifold back exhaust installed w/sport cat
...and some stuff I probably forgot...
...REVISED PRICE of $34k as of March 21st, 2007 as is to drive it away!
Car will be parted out if not sold as-is
It is a RED RS NOT driven in snow/salt (it was left in Phoenix until March and then driven home) -- currently up on jack stands in storage and off insurance..
...oh, it has an alpine stereo (for creature comfort) with nice 6 speaker setup and IPOD interface (so higher end newer model Alpine of course)

for those who don't know
The EVO RS is a 5 speed (not a 6 speed) sorry if that disappoints the group.
Also, the RS means less weight (no power door locks, no power windows, no ABS)
AND I forgot to mention the alarm system on the car (top o line aftermarket)

Who is Eric?
I have seen used 05 and 06 RS's sell for approximately $25k. You listed about $15k in aftermarket parts and the seller is firm at $40k?? Am I missing something? Generally, you only recoup a small percentage of the monies spent on mods.
How many miles are on the car? How much of its life is spent on the track?
I have a friend interested in a used Evo with nice mods, but at market price.
Please fill me in. Thanks.

labor installation (done by an ASE Master mechanic) was not included in any of the pricing and not all the mod prices were listed but parting out the mods would result in about $12k worth ETA according to the mechanic since the condition of them is so close to new. The car was in 4 HPDE events this year (it is not set up to race as it doesn't have cutoff switch, or other required items for actual racing)
Even the alarm system was around $800 which can be removed and resold easily enough for around $400.
Overall mods list is probably closer to $23K if you include labor.
$39k is the bottom line price if sold 'as is' I have been told (not a penny lower)
OTHERWISE it will be parted back to stock and sold as stock and bits sold off for profit that way (6 pot alcon's and 14" rotors alone can get a good penny on resale for example)
I am not the seller... just helping the actual seller.
...so I can't answer to the 'but you are overpriced beyond market' because the seller feels this isn't the case...
...thus the reason for pricing as is all built up vs. selling stock and parting out.
I have to double check on the mileage but I think it is between 10k and 12k.

I'm definitely not a bubble-burster, but it's WAY overpriced. I am very active in the Evo community and I have seen much more prepped cars go for less. Even the Sparco Evo (the ne plus ultra of professionally built Evos) went for $53K with over $100K invested. They are just not good cars to try to recoup your money.
I think $35K would be fair w/all receipts (including labor) - unfortunately there are a ton of used Evos flying around these days.
Best of luck with the sale - if you want some Evo boards to post on, PM me and I'll help you out.

Trending Topics
the evoM people tend to not have funding to buy a car like this and most of them prefer a drag set up eVO and not a RoadRace one.
This car was set up for track RoadRace.. not track DRAG race...
The car was build to be a comfortable daily driver that can be driven to DE events and the intension was to keep it for many years to come (only finances dictated otherwise)
oh..
I'm a She.. Eric is my boyfriend. He happens to be an ASE Master mechanic and did all his own labor (so no labor reciepts to show). I do not know if he kept the receipts of the bigger ticket items or not (like the brakes, motons and forge radiator)
...anyway, I suspect he'll see the better value in reselling the parts seperately and will put the car back to stock instead (as the sum of the parts should easily resell for a grand total of around $12k)
....and yes I fully realize the loss on cars... I lost $25K on the resale of one car and $15k on the resale of another.
so resale loss is nothing new to me or him...
He would still be loosing around $12k out of pocket at $39k on a car not even a year old yet and that is what he'd want to sell as is with all the goodies.
We really don't need to hear all the 'your overpriced' 'you'll never get it'
If someone specificly wants a very well set up EVO for roadrace with all the proper things addressed with the best equipment, this is the ideal situation for that person and we all know how it only takes one person (track Drivers Ed proven 100% reliable even on one 90 degree day thanks to the forge motorsport oversized radiator)
I only wish I had the funding to buy the car off him because I know I'd have to fork out around $50k to have one built for me with labor rates being what they are these days (and no he doesn't work on my cars)
so it's o.k. everyone, it wasn't a huge expectation that someone here would jump.. but you never know so I figured it didn't hurt to give it a shot...
nothing ventured, nothing gained...
bye all

Just for comparison.... a 2003 evo with 650 hp and all the goodies and a fully built engine went for low 30s.... and that was stopteck brakes and bilstein suspension. I have a 2003 evo with over $25K in it... runs 10.s at 137 mph... but I would be lucky if I get 30K for it. This is a very small group of customers... and yes, most evo buyers don't have the funds...
just my opinion.
just my opinion.

650hp EVO is all about DRAG racing and not roadrace.. and not reliable...
I've seen a 550hp EVO that broke 5 times over a 2 day track roadrace weekend for a 2 day HPDE...
1st the radiator broke, then the clutch went, then the trans broke and finally it threw a rod or something catastrophic happened, got a replacement engine and then something with the AWD setup crapped out and he got trailered out of there..
I personally wouldn't want a daily driver 650 or 550hp EVO.. but if I was a drag race person I'd love it (as long as i didn't have to rely on it for a daily driver)
but the lack of funds from most typical EVO buyers is what will most likely cause a end result of part out instead on this particular car..

I agree with you about the parting out part... the P car owner do the same....
however, I would disagree with about the high HP evos not being reliable.
I have a evo that dynoed 640 awd hp thats about 760 or so crank on race gas... we did it at AMS.... I have put on the car 23K miles since the upgrades and I dont have problems... and I ran 10.2 1/4 time on top of that. It all depends on what you put in ur car... junk in=junk out... pure and simple...
I have good top notch parts and they seem to hold up.
When someone boosts 30 psi with a garrett gt35r turbo on a stock motor... well don't expect the rods to last... and that's what usually happens... young kids are boost happy LOL

I really do wish you the best of luck. I am just pointing out the reality of selling Evos - I have a LOT of experience with them.
If your boyfriend did all the wrenching, then parting-out is BY FAR the best way to get the money back. I'm sure the parts/quality of install/etc. are top-notch, but the people I know who road-race always prefer to build the car to their specs or to the series they're racing in.
My road-racing friends are pretty much a who's who of Evo drivers on the West Coast. Like I said, if you want help, let me know - plenty of guys I know would buy the parts.
Again, good luck!

thanks.. I'll definately contact you again if/when it gets to that point of having the parts out of the car and ready to re-sell.
I know for that forge radiator alone he waited 4 months to get it from england!
..and on the Moton's he had to sign a non-disclosure on the alignment settings from a certain well known EVO roadracer (JM) who put the set up together
