Have been a member for a while and recently started to get this banner.

i got that too a couple of weeks ago, when i clicked on it my account changed to new member, had to delete pm's etc

pm a mod/admin and make them aware, they can fix it for you

I never received the referenced email activation link so there did not seem to be anything that I could do.

this happened to me again, I had to change my password, then after I did I got the banner again
