Over the past few months, I've noticed Caltrans raising the freeway center divider walls by 1 foot on various freeways.

My question is...why?

It is annoying to me because I can't see the flow of traffic in the opposite direction (assuming I were to drive back in the opposite direction).

I would rather this money be spent on fixing potholes, widening freeways, etc. Not on raising a center wall.

Heck, have the funds redirected to another state improvement project, our state's education fund shortfall, etc.

So seriously...why?

 

maybe because whenever there is an accident on one side of the freeway everyone on both sides has to stop and look?

 

I think they are afraid the train would derail and get onto the freeway
