Navy Base in San Diego...

Are any of the members of this forum familiar with the navy base in San Diego? The reason I ask this is because I will be moving to San Diego within the next couple of months and I was hoping that maybe some of you could fill me in on what good neighborhoods are near the base so that I don't end up moving into an area that I will regret. lol. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks all

I haven't been in that area in quite some time. If you are stationed near 32nd street (San Diego) , I wouldn't recommend anywhere in a 10 mile radius. If you are closer to 8th Street (National City) you can find decent places in parts of Chula Vista, again 5-10 miles south. I can say stay away from west of 805, from south of 94 to 54. Google San Diego Naval Base to get an idea. Each area within a semi-local driving has good and bad, but check out North Park, Univeristy heights, Clairmont, La Mesa, Mission Valley. There are many other places, but these areas are reasonable but not the greatest areas. Lots of military are out east, Santee El Cajon. These areas are better then first list. Most places north of the 8 are pretty good. Also just about all north county, coastal (expensive) and inland (15 north) are good areas.

I appreciate your response. I don't know anything about San Diego but your post will help me alot in my search for housing. MY fiancee is the one stationed there so I have to tag along =/ but once again, thanks for your input.

San Diego is a beautiful place. I travel to the bases a few times a year and really enjoy going out there.
Good luck with your search.
