I'm thinking April...before it gets too hot. I'll call the airfield next week and see what they need to secure it for a Saturday or Sunday. We need to get some sponsors lined-up, it will run $5k just for the rental. Then another $1k for GL insurance for the day. Not to mention hiring a safety vehicle and the other misc. charges for participating vehicles and spectators.

Here is what I know about the airstrip event...

http://www.ricekiller.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38939

I'm thinking about an airfield event at the end of April. The basic format would be a one-day "roll-on" side by side "performance exhibition". All participating cars must be streetcars, fitted with a true street radial...including fully DOT for highway use, drag radials. No wannabe trailered streetcars. If your car can't be driven from wherever, I don't consider it a streetcar. The four classes proposed are....

500hp and less
500-750hp
750-1000hp
1000hp+

Participants will be pre-screened and the cost will be $200/each. At least 1/2 of the excess proceeds will go to a charity. This event is NOT FOR PROFIT, and pay-outs will be made if possible.

The "roll-on" distance will be approx. 1/4 mile, giving plenty of room for a streetcar to shut-down.

Post up your thoughts and keep the streetcar vs. racecar BS out of my thread. I will determine what is what.

Think last time we got to do 3/8s of a mile
be nice to see some race cars out there though, be nice to see what a Cup Car could do against a 997 turbo, maybe they could allow people to bring race cars who hold a competition license.
