Uhh...How do I get these swirl marks out?!!

Is there a product that will take these swirl marks away, that I can do at home? The car just got back from the detail shop and this is how it looks....

Thanks!

*Here are photos of the car....the red one was just an example...

wow- sorry to hear that. I hope you didn't pay them.
Go to a shop that uses 3m products exclusively. I just took my '02 black 996 in for swirl mark / light oxidation removal and it now looks showroom new (no kidding, really).
My car looked "wet" when I picked it up and I stood there staring at it like a deer in headlights.. lol.
Cost me $250. worth it.

They used 3m's compound for dark cars and the new 3m waffle-pad on a machine buffer. While you can probably take care of some of it by hand, IMO you're best bet is to use a machine, but if you're not familiar with using one take your pcar to a reputable body shop. I interviewed 3 shops before deciding on one. The 3m stuff is amazing.

Here's the 3m link on spot panel repair using these products, including link to the actual items:

I use 3M swirl mark remover with a orbital polisher. I've also used the 3M Finesse-It II for when I need something more aggressive. You really need a machine (orbital polisher) to effectively remove the swirls.

I dont see any photos

I don't see any photos either...

Assuming they are normal swirl marks in the clear coat, here is what I do.
(note I am not a pro, I detail for fun...)

I have a Porter Orbital buffer (7424) and then I use Poorboys SSR1 or SSR2 to take down the clear coat and then once I like the finish, I protect it with Wolfgangs synthetic and then PoorBoy caranuba.

It sounds complicated, but I tried it for the first time when I bought my C6 Corvette - it was a flat black paint (no metallic) with a thin clear coat.

I was amazed that with some patience, I was able to get some amazing results.

Check out autogeek.net for great products and their forums for great tips and advice...

anyone ever use the swissvax cleaner fluid?

What's the deal with these expensive waxes- do they really make a huge diff on final result and outlast "regular" waxes? I had my car professionally detailed / buffed and it looked amazing (i believe they used 3M products) - but only lasted for about 2 weeks before the "wet look" dissapated.

My Black 2007 Bentley GT had bad marks in the paint that drove me crazy. After a lot of reading, I ended up buying a polishing/wax kit with a random orbital from Griots garage. It came with a DVD of how to polish and wax your car correctly. I learned so much, and the black paint was flawless when I finished. I have no affiliation with Griots, but have many of their items. I am always amazed with the quality of their stuff.

I also used Griot's orbital random polisher with their fine polish on my black 06 4S before I traded. It was fool-proof and the results were amazing. The best $200 I have ever spent and will not hesitate to use the same on my new 08 when needed.

Richard does have an excellent biz model and their products aren't that bad. It's a great place to go and buy lots of different products.
